The background of this study is based on the high prevalence of skin diseases due to fungal infections in Indonesia, which are often caused by unhygienic living habits and unclean environmental conditions. Lotion was chosen as the preparation because of its ease of application and its ability to maintain skin health. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) extract lotion as an antifungal agent against Trichophyton rubrum fungus. The research method used was an experiment with lotion formulations containing lemongrass extract at various concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The effectiveness test was carried out using the well diffusion method to measure the fungal growth inhibition zone. The results showed that all lemongrass extract lotion formulas had antifungal activity, with formula 3 (15% concentration) showing the largest inhibition zone of 13 mm, which is included in the strong category. In addition, all lotion preparations met good physical quality test standards, both before and after the stability test. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that lemongrass extract lotion is effective as an antifungal agent against Trichophyton rubrum and can be an alternative natural treatment for fungal skin infections.
