The lontar palm (Borassus flabellifer) is an important local resource in Kandar Village, Selaru District, Tanimbar Islands Regency. Although its parts can be used for food, construction, crafts, and traditional products, utilization remains largely traditional and has not been optimally developed into creative-economy activities. This study aimed to determine whether lontar palm utilization is significantly related to the creative economy of the community in Kandar Village. A quantitative correlational approach was used with 30 community members who utilize lontar palm products as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and literature review. The questionnaire used a five-point Likert scale, and the instrument was tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and Pearson Product Moment correlation with SPSS version 26. The results showed a very weak negative relationship between lontar palm utilization and the creative economy (r = -0.066; p = 0.729). Because p > 0.05, the relationship was not statistically significant. The findings indicate that the availability and utilization of lontar resources alone are insufficient to strengthen the creative economy without innovation, value-added processing, market development, capital access, and government support.
