Abstract

Financial literacy is an important factor that influences saving behavior and an individual's ability to plan their finances, both in the short and long term. Good financial planning is essential to support personal economic stability in the future, especially for the younger generation who are beginning to face various financial decisions independently. However, there are still many individuals who have limitations in understanding and managing their finances effectively. This condition is increasingly relevant to Generation Z (Gen Z) in Indonesia, who live amid the development of financial technology, easy access to digital consumption, and a wide range of complex financial products. This study aims to analyze the effect of financial literacy on saving behavior and long-term and short-term financial planning, with educational perception serving as a moderator, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework. This research uses a quantitative causality approach to analyze the influence of financial literacy and Perception of Education as a moderator on the savings behavior and financial planning of Gen Z in Indonesia. A sample of 400 respondents was selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-PLS to test the relationship between variables in the research model. The results of the study indicate that financial literacy has a significant influence on long-term financial planning, short-term financial planning, and saving behavior. However, the variable Perception of Education does not serve as a significant moderator in the relationship between financial literacy and long-term financial planning, short-term financial planning, and saving behavior.
