Indonesia has significant potential for hydropower development due to its mountainous and hilly topography, numerous rivers, and lakes/reservoirs that can be utilized as water energy sources. Water energy is harnessed for power generation using water turbines. One type of water turbine that can be used is a turbine with vertical or horizontal axis rotation, which can convert fluid energy into mechanical energy without requiring high head like other types of water turbines. One challenge is how to utilize the potential of relatively small water flow energy. Therefore, research is needed to transform constant water flow velocity to drive turbine or wheel shafts. The results show that the use of flow guide vanes on Savonius-type water turbines significantly affects turbine performance, with an average power coefficient increase of 5.80%. Additionally, the highest average power output of 3206.86% was obtained at a 45° deflector angle, which is higher compared to other angles such as 0°, 15°, 30°, and 60°.
