Employee performance among Credit Funding Officers at PT Bank Mega, Tbk in Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, and Samarinda showed a declining trend from 2022 to 2024. This decline was allegedly linked to weak internal communication and falling job satisfaction among employees in the field. This study examines how internal communication and job satisfaction affect employee performance through the mediation of work engagement, using a quantitative verificative approach with 64 employees treated as a saturated sample. Data were gathered through a five point Likert questionnaire and processed with Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling using SmartPLS version 4. The results indicate that internal communication and job satisfaction positively and significantly affect both work engagement and employee performance, whether directly or through the partial mediating role of work engagement. Job satisfaction was found to contribute more strongly to shaping engagement than internal communication did. These findings point to the importance of strengthening open communication channels and improving job satisfaction as strategies for lifting engagement and performance in demanding customer facing roles such as Credit Funding Officer.
