ABSTRACT Background: Asthma is a diverse illness characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness and persistent inflammation. Changes in respiratory rate are one of the symptoms that often appear in asthma patients. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the combination therapy of pursed-lip breathing and guided imagery. Methods: Quasi-Experiment study with a sample consisting of 32 participants. The instruments used for Respiratory Rate Measurement use a pulse oximeter with Respiratory Rate feature, using photoplethysmography (PPG) technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Paired T-test and the independent T-test.Results: the independent t-test with a value of (P=0.001) showed that there was a difference in the respiratory rate in EG and CG. This information indicates that there was a contribution of a mix of pursed lip breathing and guided imagery to the Respiratory Rate status. Conclusion: The combination of pursed-lip breathing and guided imagery therapy of respiratory rate contributes significantly to reducing and stabilizing respiratory rate in asthma patients. Suggestions for further research on this combination therapy could also measure respiratory indicators such as oxygen saturation in asthma patients.
