Abstract

The development and application of AI across various fields have increased the intensity of human interaction with systems in everyday activities. AI no longer functions merely as a technical support tool, but has become an integral part of daily life. Ease of access, rapid response, and personalization capabilities encourage users to become increasingly dependent on AI, giving rise to the phenomenon of AI over-reliance. This condition has the potential to influence self-disclosure behavior. This study aims to analyze the relationship between AI over-reliance and self-disclosure, as well as to identify its impacts and mitigation strategies. The method used is a literature review of 30 scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026, collected from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Sage Journals. The findings indicate that trust in AI, intensity of use, and the illusion of closeness through human-like interactions are the main factors driving both phenomena. The relationship between AI over-reliance and self-disclosure demonstrates a tendency to mutually influence and reinforce one another.
