This study aims to evaluate the effect of different levels of putak starch (Corypha utan Lamk) in market vegetable waste silage on fermentability in vitro, particularly on total VFA (Volatile Fatty Acids) concentration, NH3 (ammonia), and pH. The research was conducted from April to June 2025 at the Animal Feed Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Marine and Fisheries, Nusa Cendana University. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replicates. The treatments were P0 (without putak starch), P1 (10% putak starch), P2 (20% putak starch), and P3 (30% putak starch). The variables observed were total VFA, NH3, and pH. The results showed that the addition of putak starch had a significant effect (P<0.05) on increasing total VFA concentration, highly significant effect (P<0.01) on decreasing NH3 concentration, and significant effect (P<0.05) on pH. The highest total VFA was found in P3 (146.201 mM), while the lowest NH3 was also found in P3 (6.780 mM). The pH values ranged from 6.625 to 6.850, which were still within the optimal range for rumen fermentation (6.0–7.0). It was concluded that the addition of putak starch up to 30% could improve the fermentation quality of market vegetable waste silage, with the best treatment being 20% putak starch.
