Professionalism among journalists is essential for maintaining information quality, media credibility, and public trust, particularly amid concerns regarding the decline of journalistic idealism and adherence to ethical standards. This study aims to analyze the effects of work ethic and organizational commitment, both partially and simultaneously, on the professionalism of sports journalists affiliated with the Jakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Journalists Association. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 67 sports journalists as respondents. The data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation, multiple correlation analysis, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that work ethic affects journalist professionalism, with a correlation coefficient of 0.38 and a contribution of 14%. Organizational commitment also affects professionalism, with a correlation coefficient of 0.28 and a contribution of 5.4%. Simultaneously, work ethic and organizational commitment have a very strong relationship with professionalism, as indicated by a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.92 and a coefficient of determination of 84.6%. These findings confirm that strengthening work ethic and organizational commitment in an integrated manner is a strategic approach to improving sports journalists’ professionalism, compliance with journalistic codes of ethics, and the overall quality of journalistic practices.
