Cold storage is an important facility for maintaining the quality and safety of frozen poultry during storage and distribution. Accurate cooling-load analysis is required to determine whether the refrigeration system can remove heat entering the room and the heat associated with incoming products. This study analyzes the cooling-load requirement of a 50-ton chicken cold storage facility at PT. DHK Jaya Manufacturing, identifies the contribution of each load component, and evaluates the suitability of the installed refrigeration system. A quantitative approach was applied using the Temperature Difference (ΔT) Method and field data covering room dimensions, insulation materials, ambient conditions, product characteristics, door operation, internal equipment, and refrigeration conditions. The calculated total cooling load was 40.98 kW, with the chicken product load as the dominant component at 26.92 kW (65.69%), followed by air infiltration at 9.22 kW (22.50%), transmission at 2.98 kW (7.27%), and internal load at 1.86 kW (4.54%). The refrigeration-system COP was 2.44. The installed compressor, condenser, and evaporator capacities were 33.21, 22.00, and 18.00 kW, respectively, indicating insufficient capacity, particularly at the evaporator level. Capacity adjustment and operational improvements are recommended to support stable storage temperature and efficient refrigeration operation.
