Abstract

A normal menstrual cycle typically occurs regularly every 21 to 35 days, resulting from a complex hormonal balance. However, in reality, many adolescent girls experience menstrual cycle irregularities that can impact long-term health and future fertility risks. Body dissatisfaction and academic stress are significant psychological determinants affecting adolescent girls. Objective: To analyze the relationship between body dissatisfaction, academic stress, and menstrual cycle irregularities among 11th-grade female students at SMKN 1 Simboro, Mamuju Regency. Methods: This was a quantitative study using a cross-sectional design. Data were collected directly via questionnaires from a sample of 86 students (selected from a population of 111 who met the inclusion criteria) and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and binary logistic regression. Results: The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the acceptance of H1; statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.01 (< 0.05), leading to the acceptance of H2; and multivariate analysis yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the acceptance of H3. Conclusion: Body dissatisfaction and academic stress are significantly associated with menstrual cycle irregularities, both individually and simultaneously. Therefore, effective coping mechanisms or stress management strategies are necessary for students to alleviate the psychological pressure that directly affects their menstrual cycles.
