Recurrent forest and land fires during the dry season in South Sumatra produce haze that degrades air quality and increases the risk of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) among the public. This community service program aimed to provide early protection against fire smoke exposure while raising campus community awareness of the importance of wearing masks as a preventive measure. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving lecturers and students of the Biology Education Student Association (HMPS) of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The activity took place on August 31, 2026, in the UIN Raden Fatah Palembang campus area. The results show that the team prepared 150 mask packages, each containing three masks, and distributed them to students, lecturers, administrative staff, and residents active around the campus. Beyond direct assistance, the distribution also served as a medium for education on the dangers of fire smoke and the importance of maintaining respiratory health. This program represents a tangible first step in supporting promotive and preventive efforts against haze-related ARI, although it should be followed by more structured education and measurable impact evaluation.
