Science learning needs to provide students with direct learning experiences by utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource. However, based on observations, plant classification learning at SMP Negeri 20 Penajam Paser Utara still relies on textbooks as the main learning resource, and herbarium-making activities have never been conducted. This activity aimed to empower students through herbarium-making training as a science learning medium. The activity used a descriptive quantitative approach with a training method consisting of preparation, material delivery, demonstration, guided practice, and evaluation. The participants were 93 students divided into 16 groups. Data were collected through student questionnaires and observer observation sheets using a 1–4 Likert scale and were analyzed using percentage analysis. The questionnaire results showed an average student response of 81.4%, categorized as Very High, while the observation results for practical skills and collaboration were 79.9% and 76.7%, respectively, both categorized as High. These results indicate that herbarium-making training can support student empowerment by developing knowledge, practical skills, and cooperation in science learning.
