This study examines the professionalization and certification of nazhir (waqf managers) as a strategic issue in optimizing waqf asset management in Indonesia. Using a systematic bibliometric analysis approach, data were collected through Publish or Perish with Google Scholar as the database, employing the keyword "wakaf" for the period 2018–2023. From 1,000 initial records, 553 studies met the inclusion criteria following a PRISMA selection protocol, then processed using VOSviewer to generate network, density, and overlay visualization maps. Results reveal that waqf literature is structured around five thematic clusters, dominated by Productive Waqf & Economy (61 documents), BWI/Badan Wakaf Indonesia (52), and Nazhir & Waqf Managers (47). Critically, topics on nazhir professionalization and certification do not appear as independent clusters in any bibliometric map produced, demonstrating a significant academic lag between national waqf policy — which has been pushing BNSP-certified nazhir training since 2022 — and the supporting academic literature. This study offers a novel integrative framework combining nazhir certification as a human resource variable, reporting accountability as a governance variable, and national policy standardization as a regulatory variable, serving as a reference for BWI in designing more measurable and accountable nazhir certification standards across Indonesia.
