Technological developments in industrial fields such as materials have certainly encouraged the search for sustainable composite material alternatives, especially from renewable natural resources. One such effort is the use of natural materials as composite material reinforcements. This study aims to determine the effect of molasses addition and the optimal combination of molasses addition and immersion time using (NaHC03) on bending strength for application in car dashboards. The testing process involved bending tests with molasses additions of 3%, 5%, and 7% and immersion times (NaHC03) of 5, 6, and 7 hours. The bending test specimens referred to the ASTM D-790 standard. The results of this study showed that the highest bending strength value obtained was 66.1 MPa with 5% molasses addition, and the best combination of molasses addition and (NaHC03) immersion time was 5% addition with an immersion time of 5 hours. The results of this study indicate that the addition of molasses and the soaking time of the fibers affect the mechanical strength of the composite. Based on the BSAPI standard for bending tests, the results obtained from this study can be used for car dashboards made of ABS High Impact plastic, which has a strength of 37-76 MPa.
