A metal forging machine driven by an electric motor has been successfully designed as an alternative to manual forging methods. A forging machine is an essential piece of equipment in the metalworking industry, as it plays a significant role in improving efficiency, productivity, and product quality. This study aims to design an electric motor–driven forging machine that is suitable for small- to medium-scale industries in West Sumatra. The machine is designed to replace manual labor with a mechanical system in order to increase productivity and reduce operator fatigue. The research methodology includes a literature review, mechanical element analysis, as well as the design and simulation of the machine’s working mechanism. The results of this study include calculations of the required motor power, the design of machine elements such as shafts, bearings, pulleys, and belt transmissions, and the preparation of detailed technical drawings. The machine is designed using a 1 HP electric motor, pulleys with diameters of 12 inches and 3 inches, a V-belt type A88, and a shaft with a diameter of 25 mm. With these specifications, the forging machine is expected to support a more efficient, precise, and economical metal forging process for small- and medium-scale industries.
