Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels resulting from impaired insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Diabetes prevention requires attention to various individual, family, and social factors. This study aimed to determine the factors influencing diabetes mellitus prevention in the working area of UPTD Gunung Tua Community Health Center, North Padang Lawas Regency. This study employed a quantitative analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 321 patients with diabetes mellitus. A total of 76 respondents were selected using accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. The results showed that family history (p=0.060), family support (p=0.037), and socio-cultural factors (p=0.037) were associated with diabetes mellitus prevention behavior. Meanwhile, health worker support (p=0.882) and physical activity (p=0.256) were not significantly associated with diabetes mellitus prevention. Dietary pattern was the most dominant factor influencing diabetes mellitus prevention, with p=0.001 and a 95% confidence interval of 2.655–39.141. Family history, dietary patterns, family support, and socio-cultural factors were associated with diabetes mellitus prevention, whereas health worker support and physical activity were not significantly associated with prevention behavior. Gunung Tua Community Health Center is recommended to strengthen health education and diabetes control programs, particularly those promoting healthy dietary practices and family involvement, to improve diabetes prevention and control.
