The third goal of Sustainable Development Goals is to ensure a healthy life and promote well-being for all of all ages. One of the indicators is to reduce the under-5 mortality rate (Childhood mortality rate-CMR). The CMR is targeted at less than 25 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2030. A decreased CMR will indicate that the degree of health has increased. Pneumonia is the second leading cause of under-5 mortality in Indonesia, so it needs to be taken seriously. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of the number of under-5 mortality due to pneumonia. This study covered 34 provinces in Indonesia by using the Generalized Poisson Regression. The Poisson regression is not appropriate to use in this study. It is due to the data overdispersion. Population density and the percentage of poor people have a significant effect on under-5 mortality due to pneumonia.
