The Human Development Index (HDI) measures human development achievements based on several fundamental components of quality of life. Inequality or disparity in HDI across districts/municipalities in Papua Province is recorded as the highest in Indonesia. Therefore, this study examines the modeling of the Human Development Index (HDI) in Papua Province in 2022 using spatial regression analysis. The steps undertaken in this study include descriptive and inferential analyses. In the descriptive analysis, an overview of the variables was presented using histograms and thematic maps. In the inferential analysis, spatial autocorrelation was tested and found to be significant using Moran’s I test. Subsequently, the Spatial Error Model (SEM) was applied, showing that the variables significantly affecting HDI are Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and the percentage of the poor population.
