This study focuses on the basic configuration of routers and switches in a small-scale network using Cisco Packet Tracer, a network simulation software widely used in academic and professional environments. The main objective of this study is to provide a step-by-step approach to effectively set up and manage a small network, including the configuration of IP addresses, VLANs, routing protocols, and basic network security measures. The methodology used involves designing a simulated network topology that reflects a real-world scenario and implementing the configuration through Cisco Packet Tracer. This approach allows for an in-depth examination of the practical aspects of network management, such as troubleshooting connectivity issues and ensuring efficient data flow. The findings of this study highlight the importance of mastering basic networking skills to build robust and scalable networks. The results also show that Cisco Packet Tracer is an effective learning tool, allowing users to test configurations and understand the interactions between network devices without the need for physical hardware. This study serves as a guide for students, educators, and networking professionals who aim to improve their understanding of basic network configuration in a cost-effective and accessible manner.
