Childbirth is a long-awaited and very meaningful moment for pregnant women to get the happiness of seeing and holding their babies. Most pregnancies end with the birth of a live baby to a healthy mother. However, in some cases, birth is not a happy event but becomes a time full of pain, fear, suffering and even death. There are many non-pharmacological ways to overcome labor pain, namely: breathing techniques, positioning techniques, touch or massage techniques, visual techniques. Therefore, the knowledge and attitudes of mothers in diverting pain during labor are very necessary. The purpose of this study was to identify the knowledge and attitudes of primiparous postpartum mothers towards how to divert pain during the first stage of labor with non-pharmacological methods at the Nurhalma Tembung Maternity Clinic in 2025. This study is descriptive. The sample of this study was 22 primiparous postpartum mothers using a cross-sectional approach. The analysis found that of the 22 respondents, the majority of primiparous postpartum mothers (77.3%) had sufficient knowledge, a minority (52.7%) had good knowledge, a majority (13%) had positive attitudes, a minority (59.1%), and a minority (40.9%) had negative attitudes. Postpartum mothers who wish to give birth again should further improve their knowledge through collaboration with healthcare professionals in providing appropriate, accurate, and continuous information through counseling on how to relieve pain during the first stage of labor using non-pharmacological methods.
