Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by recurrent symptoms and reduced disease control. Physical activity is one of the factors that can trigger worsening symptoms, particularly when performed at high intensity and beyond an individual's capacity. However, appropriately prescribed and safe physical activity is known to help maintain asthma symptom stability. This study aimed to determine the relationship between physical activity and the level of asthma exacerbation control among adult patients at Jakarta Islamic Hospital Cempaka Putih. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 85 respondents were selected using a random sampling technique. Physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), while asthma control was measured using the Asthma Control Test (ACT). The association between variables was analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: The study found a significant relationship between physical activity and the level of asthma exacerbation control, with a p-value of 0.002 (< 0.005). Respondents with high levels of physical activity were more likely to fall into the uncontrolled asthma category compared with those engaging in light to moderate physical activity. Conclusion: This study confirms that excessively strenuous physical activity or activity that exceeds an individual's capacity may increase the risk of asthma exacerbations. Education on selecting safe and appropriate levels of physical activity is essential as an important component of asthma management strategies.
