Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Pierre Tendean Street, Manado City, using qualitative and quantitative approaches based on physical conditions, user perceptions, and preferences. The research method includes field observations to identify the physical suitability of the JPO to technical standards and distributing questionnaires to 80 randomly selected respondents. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively using scoring techniques. The results showed that five of the six physical parameters of the JPO met technical guidelines, except for the width of the pedestrian path (1.8 m) which did not meet the minimum standard of 2 m. Based on user perceptions, the total score for the JPO effectiveness was 791, which is included in the "doubtful" category. The safety aspect received the lowest score (30) due to the lack of lighting and the absence of security personnel. As many as 78% of respondents preferred zebra crossing facilities to JPOs. It was concluded that the JPO at the study location was not fully effective. Recommendations include improving supporting facilities, increasing lighting, and socializing the use of JPOs.
