Increasing awareness of environmental issues has encouraged the development of community-based economic activities that integrate environmental sustainability with local economic development. This study explores how the Green Laundry Program contributes to community economic empowerment while promoting environmentally responsible business practices in the coastal community of Dumai, Indonesia. Initiated by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Refinery Unit Dumai through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, Green Laundry was designed to provide an alternative livelihood for coastal households, particularly former ngokang traders who faced occupational safety risks and unstable incomes. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, documentation, and stakeholder discussions involving community members, local government, and company representatives. The program integrates eco-friendly detergents, wastewater treatment systems, solar energy utilization, and community capacity-building to establish a sustainable green business. The findings reveal that the Green Laundry Program not only reduces the environmental impacts associated with conventional laundry services but also creates employment opportunities, strengthens local economic resilience, and enhances community awareness of sustainable living.
