Abstract

Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production in Indonesia continues to face challenges in meeting consumer demand due to relatively low and fluctuating yields. Meanwhile, fertilization practices still rely heavily on inorganic fertilizers, which, when improperly applied, may degrade soil quality and cause adverse environmental impacts. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of inorganic fertilizer, guano fertilizer, and pineapple peel-based liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the growth and yield of common bean plants, identify the treatment combination that promotes optimal growth and production, and analyze the nutrient content of pineapple peel-based LOF. The study was conducted from March to August 2025 at the Universitas Trilogi experimental farm using a single-factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of five treatments: P0 (control), P1 (NPK 10 g/polybag), P2 (NPK 10 g + guano 60 g/polybag), P3 (NPK 20 g + LOF 100 mL/polybag), and P4 (NPK 20 g + guano 60 g + LOF 100 mL/polybag). The results showed that the fertilizer combinations had significant effects on plant height, number of leaves, and pod weight. The combination of NPK 10 g + guano 60 g/polybag (P2) produced the best growth performance, with a plant height of 144.53 cm, 30.50 leaves, and a pod weight of 120.41 kg. Based on these findings, the combination of NPK 10 g and guano 60 g per polybag was the most effective treatment for promoting vegetative growth and yield of common bean plants under the conditions of this study. Meanwhile, pineapple peel-based LOF has potential for further development as an alternative organic input; however, its quality needs to be improved to maximize its benefits for plant growth and yield.
