Analisis Hubungan Safety Leadership dan Safety Climate terhadap Unsafe Action dengan Behavior Based Safety sebagai Mediator (Study Kasus: PT SIGK)

The issue of occupational accidents caused by unsafe actions remains a challenge for PT SIGK, a manufacturing enterprise. This study investigates the structural relationships between Safety Leadership, Safety Climate, and Unsafe Action, focusing on the mediating role of Behavior Based Safety (BBS). Utilizing a quantitative design, empirical data were gathered from 133 production line workers selected through simple random sampling and analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The analytical results demonstrate that Safety Climate is the sole factor exerting a positive and statistically significant influence on Behavior Based Safety. In contrast, Safety Leadership has no significant effect on BBS, and direct paths from Safety Leadership, Safety Climate, and BBS to Unsafe Action all lack statistical significance. Additionally, BBS fails to act as an effective mediator bridging Safety Leadership or Safety Climate to Unsafe Action. Based on these findings, management is recommended to reinforce Safety Climate strategies while systematically upgrading the BBS program to encourage safer operational practices.
