Abstract

This article discusses rice seedling cultivation, a crucial initial step in rice farming, as seedling quality significantly impacts crop productivity. This research examines the application of the MZ dry nursery method on rice plants (Oryza sativa) as an alternative to traditional nursery methods that require water immersion. The MZ dry nursery method is designed to conserve water usage and accelerate seedling growth, making it a viable solution for regions with limited water resources. The study was conducted at [Singkalan, Kec. BalongBendo, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur], with stages including soil preparation, initial seed treatment, seeding, and seedling growth monitoring. Results indicate that the MZ dry nursery method can produce strong, uniform seedlings with high germination rates and stable growth. Additionally, this method allows for water usage efficiency of up to 50% compared to conventional methods. Thus, the MZ dry nursery method can be a more effective and environmentally friendly option for farmers in water-scarce areas. It is recommended that this method be more widely implemented and become an innovation in sustainable agriculture.
