<![CDATA[Urban drainage systems play a crucial role in managing surface runoff and reducing the risk of inundation in urban residential areas. However, the effectiveness of drainage systems is determined not only by technical design but also by community participation in maintaining drainage cleanliness. This study aims to evaluate community participation and the technical condition of drainage channels in Tiban Indah Village, Batam City. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using structured online questionnaires distributed to 100 residents and supported by direct field observations of drainage conditions. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results indicate that the community generally has good knowledge and positive attitudes toward drainage cleanliness; however, participation in collective maintenance activities remains limited. Field observations revealed that several drainage channels experienced sedimentation, waste accumulation, and reduced flow capacity, resulting in localized water ponding after rainfall. These findings indicate that limited community involvement contributes to declining drainage performance. Therefore, improving urban drainage effectiveness requires an integrated approach that combines regular technical maintenance with enhanced community participation to achieve sustainable drainage management.]]>
