The bagworm (Metisa plana) is one of the major pests that attack oil palm plantations, causing leaf damage and reducing the plants’ photosynthetic capacity. This study aims to identify the level of bagworm infestation in mature oil palm plantations at the Dolok Ilir Plantation, PTPN IV Region II, as a basis for pest management and control strategies. This study was conducted through field observations and systematic random sampling. The data collected included pest population, infestation level, infestation percentage, and the extent of leaf damage caused by the bagworm. The results showed that the infestation level was categorized as severe and had spread throughout the entire observation area. High pest populations caused significant leaf damage, which has the potential to reduce crop productivity and increase pest control costs. From an agribusiness perspective, these conditions can negatively impact plantation efficiency and the sustainability of oil palm production. Therefore, routine monitoring and the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) are crucial for curbing pest development and maintaining plantation productivity and sustainability.
