Plastic waste pollution in coastal areas is a critical environmental issue that threatens marine ecosystems, aquatic biota, and human health, particularly through the formation of microplastics. This community service activity aimed to promote public understanding and environmental awareness regarding the impacts of plastic waste and microplastics through an educative-participatory approach. The activity was conducted on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Kemantren Beach, Lamongan Regency, Indonesia, by lecturers and students of the Environmental Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Islam Lamongan. The target groups included local vendors, beach visitors, and surrounding coastal communities. The activities consisted of direct environmental education using simple communication media, interactive discussions, the “Stop Plastic Waste” campaign, and collective beach clean-up activities as a form of contextual learning. Data were collected descriptively through direct observation, participant responses during discussions, and activity documentation. The results showed positive participant responses and active involvement in educational discussions and beach clean-up activities. Participants also demonstrated engagement by asking questions, sharing experiences, and participating directly in identifying and collecting plastic waste in the coastal area. These findings indicate that an educative-participatory approach can facilitate community engagement and provide contextual learning experiences to support coastal environmental protection.
