<![CDATA[Fenomena kelangkaan pupuk pada tahun 2008 berpengaruh terhadap stabilitas petani sayuran di datarantinggi Alahan Panjang Sumatera Barat. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut petani menggunakan berbagai carasalah satunya mengurangi area tanam dalam upaya menurunkan biaya produksi diakibatkan oleh harga pupukyang tinggi. Hal ini menyebabkan menurunnya total produksi namun meningkatkan nilai ekonominya karenapermintaan yang tinggi tapi ketersediaan terbatas sehingga mampu meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Tujuanpenelitian ini adalah menguji pengaruh keterbatasan pupuk terhadap strategi yang dilakukan oleh petani danpendapatannya. Pengujian dilakukan dengan metode survey dan dianalisis secara deskriptif di Desa Air Dingindan Sungai Nanam Alahan Panjang, Solok, Sumatera Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kelangkaanpupuk meningkatkan pendapatan petani karena mampu meningkatkan harga jual produk yang terbatas.Kata kunci: kelangkaan pupuk, produksi, pendapatan petaniABSTRACTScarcity of fertilizer phenomenon in 2008 affect the stability of vegetable farmers in the farming areas ofAlahan Panjang highland at Solok District West Sumatera. To mitigate farmers apply various strategies, such asby reducing the area planted to reduce the cost of production because fertilizer prices jumped sharply aftermissing commercially. Reduction in the extend of impact on the decline in the number of plant production, but onthe other hand with a reduced impact on the production of rising prices because the supply increases whilesupply decreases. Furthermore, it also affects household income from farming. The purpose of assessment is tolook at the impact of shortages of fertilizer on farm household income, as well as farmer’s strategies in the faceof shortages of fertilizer. Assessment conducted surveys and analyzed mathematically and descriptively. Theassessment was conducted in the village of Air Dingin dan Sungai Nanam at Alahan Panjang region, SolokDistrict West Sumatera Province.
