Abstract

Salah satu penentu keberhasilan dalam budidaya tanaman adalah penggunaan varietas unggul, namun varietas unggul tersebut harus dapat beradaptasi pada berbagai tipe agroekologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat adaptasi dan produksi dari beberapa varietas cabai merah di dataran tinggi. Penelitian  dilaksanakan di Desa Cibeureum, Kecamatan Sukamantri, Kabupaten Ciamis dari bulan Mei sampai Oktober 2014. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan varietas Malika, Jetset, Inco, dan  Persada sebagai perlakuan dan sebagai pembanding adalah varietas Tanjung. Masing-masing varietas diulang sebanyak lima kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada  tinggi tanaman, kematian tanaman, dan produksi (P<0,05). Varietas Jetset  memiliki tinggi tanaman  paling tinggi (138,4 cm), varietas Malika merupakan varietas dengan kematian tanaman paling banyak (21,68 persen) dan varietas Inco adalah yang berproduksi paling tinggi (14,10 ton per ha). Berdasarkan penelitian ini tampak bahwa varietas Jetset, Inco, dan Persada merupakan varietas yang paling adaptif di dataran tinggi.Successful in cultivation require the use superior variety, however, the superior varieties should be adapted to specific agro ecological environment. Therefore the objective of the study was to test the adaptation and production of several chili varieties to upland agro ecology. This study was conducted in Cibeureum Village, Sukamantri Sub District, Ciamis District from May to October 2014. Randomized Block Design was applied in this study and the varieties of chili as a treatment. The varieties that were used as treatment are Malika, Jetset, Inco and Persada while Tanjung variety use as comparison, each variety was replicated five times. The results showed that there were differences in plant height, plant mortality and chili product (P < 0,05). Jetset variety has the highest plant height (138,4 cm), Malika variety has a highest plant mortality (21,68 percent), and the Inco variety has the highest chili production (14,10 ton per ha). This study indicated that Jetset, Inco and Persada are adapted to upland zone.
