Bali cattle are one of the prominent indigenous cattle in which it can be found all over regions of Indonesia. One of central raising Bali cattle is East Nusa Tenggara Province. This article aims at analyzing the Bali cattle development in this province descriptively. Research result shows that Bali cattle were still traditionally managed by family labors characterized by lacks of technical smallholdersâ knowledge and capital, depending upon natural feeds with deficient nutrition content, and below optimal productivity. Apart from that, smallholders had a weak bargaining position since cattle marketing was controlled by traders. Bali cattle development strategy in East Nusa Tenggara Province should be implemented through participatory approach in the form of stakeholdersâ steering committee within the entry point of existing farmerâs group basis. As a result, it is required policy formulation support such as regulation, infrastructure, investment, technical assistance, and advocacy. Synergic activity with corporate social responsibility program is one of alternative opportunities that can be strategically implemented.
