<![CDATA[The term librarian is still  considered  foreign by the audience. All this time, librarians are concerned with daily activities, and are busy with regular service. Of course, the perception was awakened  from  the point of  view that the librarian's busyness is confined by the various library services provided. It is biased from the general assumption that libraries are books and officers who take care of the ins and outs of books (especially in schools / educational units) are called librarians. For UPT Library STAIN Kudus mindset is trying to be changed. Librarians are placed  as knowledge agents for people who need information for their knowledge development and information insight. To become an agent of knowledge, librarians must be able to increase their quality to become professional person. To that end, UPT Library STAIN Kudus demands librarians to have at least 2 basic competencies namely 1. Professional competence, that is competence related to basic knowledge about information science, information  resources, access information, technology, management and research and ability to provide services information and knowledge in libraries; and 2. Personal competence which  includes a set of  skills, attitudes and  values of librarians in working efficiently, being a good communicator, focusing on continuous learning for career development, applying the values that have been embraced, and can survive in the world work with all the changes that occur.]]>
