<![CDATA[Abstract: This study aims to determine: 1) the influence of discovery learning model to the motivation of learners in learning text of the report on observation, 2) the influence of discovery learning model to the learning achievement of students in understanding the text of the report on the observation. This research is a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was all students of class VII SMP Negeri 3 Kaliwiro Wonosobo, 143 students. Class VII A, VII C, VII E as an experimental group and class VII B, VII D as a control group. Data were obtained through questionnaire and test. Questionnaire, such an attitude scale is used to find the motivation to learn. Test was multiple choices of 40 items. This test is used to determine the achievement of learning to understand the text of the report on the observation. Research results with significance level α = 0.05 indicates that 1) there is the influence of using discovery learning model to the students' learning motivation, 2) there isthe influence of using discovery learning model to the students’ learning achievement, and 3) discovery learning model has more influence on students’ learning motivation than their learning achievement. Key words: discovery learning, motivation, academic achievement Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) pengaruh model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning) terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam belajar teks laporan hasil observasi, 2) pengaruh model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning) terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik dalam memahami teks laporan hasil observasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kaliwiro Kabupaten Wonosobo yang berjumlah 143 orang, dengan kelas VII A, VII C, VII E sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VII B, VII D sebagai kelompok kontrol. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui angket dan tes. Angket, berupa skala sikap yang terdiri atas 20 butir, digunakan untuk mengetahui motivasi belajar. Tes berupa soal pilahan ganda berjumlah 40 butir. Tes ini digunakan untuk mengetahui prestasi belajar memahami teks laporan hasil observasi. Hasil penelitian dengan taraf signifikasi α=0,05 menunjukkan bahwa 1) terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning) terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik, 2) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning)terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik, dan 3) model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning) lebih berpengaruh terhadap motivasi belajar daripada prestasi belajar peserta didik.
