Accession to the Madrid Protocol plan by the Government of Indonesia, on the one side, reap the pro and contra of various opinions. The opinion that arise in the community caused by concerns over the negative impact of the accession protocols of which were related to the role of a patent agent to be reduced because the brand owner can easily register its brand directly to some countries belonging to the Madrid Protocol. Problems in this paper that the implication of accession to the Madrid Protocol for Indonesia. As for the purpose of this article is to determine the implications of accession to the Madrid Protocol for Indonesia. The analize showed accession to the Madrid Protocol implications on some of the things that adjustments Act in the field of brands through a revised Trademark Law and the readiness of human resources in the field of brand. In addition, in acceding to the Madrid Protocol should also determine the advantages and disadvantages as the implications of accession to the Protocol.ABSTRAKRencana aksesi Protokol Madrid oleh Pemerintah Indonesia, menuai berbagai sikap pro dan kontra. Sikap yang timbul di masyarakat disebabkan oleh kekhawatiran dampak negatif atas aksesi protokol tersebut, di antaranya terkait dengan peran konsultan HKI menjadi berkurang karena pemilik merek dapat langsung dengan mudah mendaftarkan mereknya ke beberapa negara yang tergolong dalam Protokol Madrid tersebut. Permasalahan dalam tulisan ini yakni mengenai implikasi aksesi terhadap Protokol Madrid bagi Indonesia. Adapun yang menjadi tujuan dalam tulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui implikasi aksesi Protokol Madrid bagi Indonesia. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukkan aksesi terhadap Protokol Madrid berimplikasi terhadap beberapa hal yakni penyesuaian Undang-Undang di bidang Merek melalui revisi UU Merek dan kesiapan sumber daya manusia di bidang merek. Selain itu, dalam melakukan aksesi terhadap Protokol Madrid juga harus mempertimbangkan keuntungan dan kerugian sebagai implikasi dari aksesi Protokol tersebut.
