Focus and Scope Jurnal EkoRegion is a scientific journal that publishes research articles, conceptual studies, and empirical research focusing on sustainable regional and rural development. The focus and scope of the journal are formulated by referring to and aligning scholarly coverage in the fields of regional, urban, and rural planning; agropolitan area planning, agriculture, and agro-industry; as well as environmental and regional–rural economic studies. The focus and scope of Jurnal EkoRegion are grouped into three main areas of study as follows. Regional, Urban, and Rural Planning Studies This area of study accommodates research and scholarly works related to the planning and development of regions, cities, and rural areas, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. Topics include, but are not limited to: Regional and urban planning Urban studies and regional development Integrated rural planning and rural development Spatial planning of regions, cities, and rural areas Rural–urban linkages Utilization of geospatial data and technologies in regional and urban planning Social, economic, and institutional aspects of regional development planning Regional and urban development policies Agropolitan Area Planning, Agriculture, and Agro-Industry Studies This area of study covers research focusing on agriculture- and agribusiness-based regional development as a driver of rural economic growth. Topics include, but are not limited to: Planning and development of agropolitan areas Agricultural and rural development Agricultural extension and capacity building of farming communities Agribusiness, entrepreneurship, and agricultural cooperatives Agricultural product marketing and supply chain management Farm management, post-harvest systems, and agro-industry Agricultural financing, financial institutions, and agribusiness organizations Food security, plantations, and agroforestry Agricultural downstreaming and industrialization Policies on agropolitan areas, agriculture, and agro-industry Environmental and Regional–Rural Economic Studies This area of study includes research examining the interrelationships among environmental, social, and economic aspects in regional and rural development. Topics include, but are not limited to: Environmental impact analysis of regional and rural development Regional and rural economics Natural resource and environmental economics Social and socio-economic modeling Socio-cultural studies and community development Policies for sustainable regional, agricultural, and rural development The scope of the journal is also open to interdisciplinary studies relevant to the three areas, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, multi-concept and multi-methodological perspectives, as well as policy studies and planning for sustainable regional and rural development.
