Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is an e-journal published by Universitas Tidar. The research article submitted to this online journal will be peer-reviewed at least 2 (two) reviewers. Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through initial review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to peer reviewer (Mitra Bestari) and will go to the next selection by the double-blind review process. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors to revise. These processes take a month for a maximum time. In each manuscript, peer reviewer will be rated from the substantial and technical aspects. Final decision of articles acceptance will be made by editors according to reviewers comments. Peer reviewer that collaboration with Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is the experts in the linguistics, literature, and their teaching area and issues around it. They were experienced in the prestigious journal management and publication that was spread around the nation and abroad.

Abstract

Teaching writing based on gender discourse is designed to make the creative writing process is free from discriminating, strereotyping, and marginalizing aspects, which later has negative effects for particular gender. In reality, this process focuses on the teachers’ effort in reconstructing teaching writing based on the conferencing approach. This approach is based on the guided writing process between peers and between students and teachers. This creative writing process is interfered by gender discourse. In this class, the system is affected by characters and shaped by the writer’s character in giving his/her perspectives about male-female roles so there will be no marginalized, discriminated, and labelled groups. This study uses quasi experimental research design. This study aims at finding out the model teaching writing which based on gender discourse and conferencing approach. The procedure of this studi is based on the R2D2 model which has three steps: (1) defining, (2) planning and developing, (3) and disseminating. The data of this study cover qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data are analyzed by using domain analysis technique with critical and reflective principles, while the quantitative data are analyzed by statistic analysis techniques with t-test. This study results teaching writing model which based on gender discourse and conferencing approach, such as (1) syllabus, (2) lesson plan, (3) learning materials/text book, (4) evaluation instruments, (5) teaching writing guide. This covers model teaching writing for (a) exposition text, (b) narrative text, and argumentative text. Based on the data analysis, the three models of teaching writing are effective and improve the PBSI (Department of Indonesian Education and Literature) Students’ writing skills at Tidar University.Keywords: conferencing approach, teaching writing, writing model

Abstract

Assessment is needed in the activity deals with teaching learning process as well as the learning of speaking ability in higher education. Basically, assessment for lecturers is not a novelty. Assessment is important since it is done in every learning process. It is necessary to be done because the result of assessment can be used as one of the standards of learners’ competency in understanding the material. Number and value can be used as the standard of learning success since they are the characteristics of the assessment. In doing the assessment of learning outcomes, the lecturers should notice the assessment principles as the qualified assessments guidelines. The assessment principles which are needed to be actualized in the assessment of learning outcomes in speaking ability are validation principle, competence education, objective, fair, open, continuity, comprehensive and economical. Based on the reality, some speaking ability’s assessment principles in higher education have not fully actualized yet.  The effort to realize the speaking ability’s assessment principle in higher education is by doing assessment based on information technology. The use of information technology in assessing speaking ability can actualize the assessment principle. Abstract

This research aims to (1) describes some processes of euphemism formation and (2)  explains some factors behind those formations. It uses descriptive qualitative method with observing and note taking as techniques for data collecting. There are five findings in this research: (1) euphemism formation occurs by two processes, namely (a) by using english vocabularies and (b) by replacing the existing term with another one from Indonesia vocabularie; (2) there are influences from diglosic condition in Indonesia to euphemism formation by using english vocabularies; (3) one of euphemism formation have been done to hide the real essence of job by using some specific diction on the job term; (4) the component of meaning from diction elected with positive connotation become basis for replacement of the term; (5) the job location be a another  influence of euphemism formation.Keyword: euphemism, occasion, language, linguistic etiquette

Abstract

This research aims to know the speech function and politeness strategy used by speaker and interlocutor in dialogue which contains the complaint in twitter. It is descriptive qualitative research applied non-participant method. The source of data was the tweet dialogue about customer complaints or complaints between consumers and @indosat as producer in @indosat account. Purposive sampling technique was used to choose the data which represent the existence population. The analysis found that there are two functions of speaker’s utterance: complaining and responding. The politeness strategies used by speaker in complaining are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The politeness strategies used by speaker in responding are bald on record, positive politeness and negative politeness. Meanwhile, the function of utterance said by the interlocutor is giving response to the complaint by using positive and negative politeness strategy. It is hoped that the result of this research can be used as the reference for consumer and producer who interact in social media so that their resulting utterances do not emerge the conflict of both sides. Abstract

This researcher was motivated to conduct this study because of the less ability of the leaener to write poetry. It coud be seen from the average score of the pretest of poetry writing which only reached 73. The purpose of the study was to improve motivation and the learning result of poetry writing in the students of VIIIA of SMPN 3 Sragi, Pekalongan by applying Timlo aplication of Copy the Master Technique. The method used in this Class Action Research was using two cycles. The subjects were 32 students of class VIII A. The result showed that there was a significant improvement in learning the technique of poetry wriring. The average score of pretest was 73. After the applying Timlo technique, the average score of the cycle I was 79.88 and it increased in the cycle II to 84.00. The increasing score from the pretest to the first cycle was 68.8%. Meanwhile, the increasing score from cycle I to cycle II was 41.2%. In addition, there was an increasing motivation of the students for learning to poetry writing. Thus, it was suggested for Indonesian subject’s teacher for using this model in teching and learning process.Keywords: motivation, learning outcomes, writing poetry, timlo engineering, copy the master

The study of language related to society is an interesting study. This study is called Sociolinguistics. The materials of Sociolinguistics are code-mixing and code-switching. They can be applied in Padang Bulan by Andrea Hirata. There are two discussions in this study namely code-mixing and code-switching. Abstract

This research background on learning basic competencies 12.2 proverbs in writing the idea to convince or persuade the reader to be or do something in paragraph form of persuasion. Lessons are included in the curriculum for the class x KTSP second semester. The problems of this study (1) what are the effects of persuasion contained in proverbs, (2) how the implementation of learning persuasion School (SMA), based on a review pragmatic in proverbs. Based on the formulation of the problem this study aims to (1) describe the effect of persuasion proverbs, (2) make a persuasive learning design maxim in high school. This study uses several theories as follows: (1) pragmatics, (2) aspects of meaning, (3) the meaning of persuasion, (4) proverb. The data source of this research was obtained from the Dictionary of Proverbs J.S Badudu and Kamusperibahasa.com (attached data). Collecting data in this study using methods refer to proceed with the log. Data analysis using a unified and pragmatic pilah power. This study is structured to be a design study in high school. X classes the second semester, the curriculum KTSP. 12.2 Basic competencies writing ideas to convince or persuade the reader to be or do something in paragraph form of persuasion. Based on the results of 11 Data maxim that has been investigated is found maxim that has been referred to the effects of persuasion effect of ethical 1 data, the sensitizing effect 1 data, the effect humble 2 data, the effect of wisdom 2 data, the effect of fidelity 2 data, the effect of simplicity 1 record, effects alertness 1 data, the effect unyielding 1 data. This study used high school level instructional design, object of this study in accordance with the learning materials at high school based curriculum KTSP.Keywords: review pragmatic, persuasion effects category, proverbs.

Abstract

This study was research and development. This research and development was based on unavailibility of Indonesian language teaching materials based on the character value. Whereas, it is very essential and important for primary students to develop their character. This research was aimed at developing a product in form of Indonesian language teaching material which was integrated with character value. The development of the product in this study was done by combining steps from Kemps model and Borg and gall consisting of: (1) potential and problems, (2) data collection, (3) design product (prototype) (4) validation, (5) product revision (6) main field testing, (7) revision. The result of this research revealed that the product was good and proper to be used to teach Indonesian language in primary school grade 4.Keywords: character education, teaching materials, development model
