Abstract

ABSTRACT  This study entitled “Bentuk-bentuk –ing dalam “Australian Journal of Linguistics volume 23” is the study that focuses on morphosyntax analysis especially the forms and functions used in the article of the journal. It is an attempt to identify and analyze the forms and the functions of –ing in the Australian Journal. This research was done in several stages: preparation, data collection and data analysis. The data of –ing form were collected froms the article of the journal entitled “Origami in a Hurricane: Current Challenges to Linguistic” and were analyzed according to the theory of Aarts&Aarts (1982), Murphy (1994), Lado (2008) and Quirk (1972). The results of this study show the forms and the functions of –ing. There are 7 (seven) forms of –ing which are:  –ing clause that has explicit subject, -ing clause that has no  explicit subject, -ing as a participle clause, -ing as an adjective, -ing as a present continuous tense, -ing as a past continuous tense, and -ing as a gerund. And there are 2 (two) functions of –ing which are : -ing that has functions as an adverbial, and –ing as a gerund which has functions as a subject, an object and an object of preposition. The outcomes of this study are expected to give contributions of the language development in linguistic studies especially in analyzing –ing form and are expected to help the students or readers to have more understanding about the –ing form.  Keywords: Morphosyntax, form and function, -ing forms, -ing clause, Australian Journal of Linguistics vol.23

Abstract

SEJARAH KAMPUNG ISLAM DI KECAMATAN TUMINTING KOTA MANADO TAHUN 1954-2015 Nilfa Susassri, Ferry R. Mawikere, Fientje Thomas  Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Jurusan Ilmu Sejarah Universitas Sam Ratulangi, Manado Email: Nilfaauliasusassri@yahoo.com   ABSTRAK  Pembahasan  dalam  skripsi  ini  memusatkan  perhatian  pada  Sejarah  Kampung  Islam di  kota  Manado  dengan  melihat  perkembangan  Islam  yang  masuk  di  Kota  Manado sehingga  membawa  peranan  yang  sangat  baik  terhadap  masyarakat  khususnya  di  Kampung Islam.  proses  Islamisasi  yang  terjadi  di  Manado  dilihat  dari  faktor-faktor  penunjang  seperti  adanya  para  pedagang,  nelayan  dan  para  buruh  yang  kebanyakan  beragama  Islam dan  para  pemeluk  agama  Islam  di  Manado  yang  tidak  pernah  melupakan  kegiatan beribadah  serta  adanya  organisasi  sosial  keagamaan  lainnya. Sehubungan  dengan  isi  karya  ini,  metode  yang  digunakan  dalam  penelitian  ini adalah  metode penelitian  sejarah  yang  biasa  digunakan  dalam  penulisan  sejarah  yaitu heuristik,  kritik,   interpretasi  dan   historiografi.  Hal  ini  perlu  karena  penulisan  sejarah tidak  boleh  diterima  tanpa  adanya  pertanggung  jawaban  ilmiah.  Dalam  penganalisa  data historis  penulis  juga  menggunakan  bantuan  atau  pendekatan  ilmu-ilmu  sosial.   Pada  masa  arus  kedatangan  Islam  di  Manado,  Kampung  Pondol  dan  muara  sungai Tondano  sudah  banyak  penduduknya  dan  daerah  ini dikuasai  oleh  Belanda,  sehingga  sebagian  pindah  dipesisir   pantai   utara   Manado  di  daerah  Tuminting.  Dan  kemudian kampung  itu  mereka  namakan   Kampung  Islam.  Kampung  Islam  merupakan  salah  satu daerah  tertua  yang  didiami  oleh  orang  Islam  sehingga  menjadi  tempat  berkumpulnya  orang – orang  Islam  yang  datang  dari  berbagai  daerah.  Kata  Kunci : Sejarah Kampung Islam di Manado    ABSTRACT  Discussion of the thesis this zeroed in on the history of the village Islam in the city Manado to see the development of Islam enter in the city Manado so bring the role of a very good against people, especially in the village Islam. the process of islamisasi in Manado Happened in Manado be seen from the factors - factors  such as a supporting the existence of the trader, the fishermen and the workers who most religious Islam and the hugger religion Islam in Manado who never forget the worship as well as the other social organization religious. In connection with the contents of this work, which method in use in this study is the study the history of the usual in use in writing the history of the heuristics, critical, the interpretation of it and historiografi.it is necessary because writing history should not be accepted without any scientific for in the analysis of the historically. The writer also use the help or the science of social sciences.  On the currents of arrival islam in Manado, his pondol and the estuary of the river tondano already many populated and this area controlled by the Netherlands, so much moved beach northern shore Manado in the district Tuminting. And then his that they call home Islam. his Islam is one of the oldest inhabited by people Islam so into the gathering of people Islam came from various areas.  Keywords: The History of the village of islam in Manado

PERKEMBANGAN MASYARAKAT SANGIHE DI KELURAHAN PINTUKOTA KECAMATAN LEMBEH UTARA TAHUN 1982-2015 Yuliani Rudu, Sientje Suatan, Meity J wowor Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Jurusan Ilmu Sejarah Universitas Sam Ratulangi, Manado Email: yulianirudu@yahoo.com          No.Hp. 085256293883 ABSTRAK Penelitian “ Skripsi “ ini Mengacu pada Masyarakat Sangihe yang ada di Kelurahan Pintukota. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih jauh tentang proses perkembangan masyarakat Sangihe di kelurahan Pintukota, dan pola hidup Masyarakat Sangihe baik di bidang ekonomi, pendidikan, sosial budaya, agama, sistem Pemerintahan dan adat istiadat.Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada faktor-faktor yang mendukung terjadinya persebaran Masyarakat Sangihe antara lain di sebabkan karena terjadinya bencana Alam, kepadatan penduduk, dan mencari lapangan pekerjaan yang baru. Penulisan ini mengambil judul tentang Perkembangan Masyarakat Sangihe di Kelurahan Pintukota Kecamatan Lembeh Utara tahun 1982-2015 Ditinjau Dari Aspek Sejarah. Dalam penulisan ini penulis menggunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu Heuristik, Kritik analisa, Interpretasi, dan yang terakhir Historiografi. Metode sejarah ini sangat membantupenulis untuk dapat memperoleh data. Kemudian diklasifikasikan data yang mendukung permasalahan diolah dengan penafsiran menggunakan fakta-fakta sejarah, kemudian dilakukan penulisan sesuai permasalahan yang telah dirumuskan dan tujuan yang akan dicapai, sehingga terwujudlah skripsi ini.  Kata Kunci :Perkembagan Masyarakat, Pola Hidup Masyarakat.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The research is entitled ?The  Cohesion Items of the Novel Insurgent by Veronica Roth?.    The research questions are what is cohesion items appear  in the novel Insurgent This research aims at to identify, clasification, analyze and describe  the cohesion  items used  in the novel Insurgent The theory used is Halliday and Hasan (1976) that describe text connectedness in terms of reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. Cohesion occurs ?when the interpretation of some element in the discourse is dependent on that of another? (Halliday and Hasan, 1976:4). The  types of cohesion are distinguished 1)References, 2) Substitution, 3)Ellipsis, dan 4) Conjunction. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method used to describe or analyze the results of the study but not used to make broader conclusions (Sugiyono 2005: 21). This method of describing what it is about cohesion instruments that have been classified  and put them on cards. Research results show that cohesion tools that used by the writer are: 1) reference with types of  a) personal reference (noun/pronoun and possessive), demonstrative and comparative. Personal reference are; I, me, mine, my all infact refer to the character of Tris. Other personal reference, you, your, we us, our, he, him, his, she, her, they, them refer to other character in this novel, the character of Tobias, Johanna, Marcus, Tris, Tris Friends, the boy at the left side of Tris, Jack, Lynn, Fernando, Peter, Eric, Caleb, Hector and Christina. b) Demonstrative reference, like the use of this, these, here refer to near distance and that, those, there, then refer to far distance, c)  Comparative reference, like better, more are adjectives, so and more are adverbs. 2) Susbtitution, like one is nominal category, do is verbal categore, so not are clausal. 3) Elliptical, subject deleting. 4) Conjunction, like additive form, alternative, adversative, containing, clausal, temporal, and simultanouse (consultive, correlative form)  --------------------------------------------------- Keywords: cohesion, reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjuction

Abstract

ABSTRACT   The title of this research is "Personal Pronouns in The Novel The Collector by the John Fowles". The objectives of this research are to identify, to classification and to analyze the form of personal pronouns.  The data are collected by focusing on the writer presents her novel by using personal pronouns. the theory  used in this research is taken from Frank (1972). The problem of the research: what are the personal pronouns in term of form and function in the novel The Collector by John Fowles. I, she, we, they can be subjects of a verb. Example : I saw it. He knows you. They live near here. Coplements of the verb to be : example it is I. Me, him, her, us, them can be direct objects of a verb. Example : I saw her. Tom likes them. Those concepts above will be used for identifying and analyzing data.  The result shows that the forms of personal pronouns are found in the novel The Collector by John Fowles. The result shows that there are personal pronouns is a word used in the place of a noun either persons or things. The function of perosnal pronoun is a subject, object possessive adjective and possessive in the sentence.   Keywords : Personal Pronouns, Novel : The Collector

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This study is entitled “Analisis Tanda Dalam Film The DaVinci Code Karya Dan Brown: Analisis Semiotik”. Semiotics is a study about signs. Sign is something that can be interpreted. Every sign has various meaning according to the convention that exist in society. This study is an attempt to identify and classify the sign and then to analyze the meaning of the sign that appears in The DaVinci Code Film. This research was done in several stages: preparation, data collection and data analysis. The data were collected through the author’s explaination about kind of signs as something that have meanings. The writer used the theory of Pierce to identify, classify and  analyze the the data.   The results of this research show that there are three kinds of signs that appear in The DaVinci Code Film. Those are icon, index and symbol. The meanings of the signs are various toward the context of each scene. The writer hopes that this study will help the readers to understand about semiotics especially on sign that often found in our daily lives and how these signs can give  meaning in communication.   Keywords: Signs, Semiotic Analysis, Film

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This study is an attempt to identify, classify, and analyze the metaphor in the Book of Proverbs. Metaphor is a figurative language that takes two different things which not have relation. The purpose of this research is to get the form of metaphor and the meaning of metaphor in through sentences that had about metaphor.  This research uses a descriptive method. There are three steps to finish this research. First step is preparation, the writer reads the Book of Proverbs to find out the data. The second step is data collection, the writer  collects the metaphor found the proverbs then identifies the kinds of metaphor according to the theory of Lakoff and Johnson (2003). The  third step is data analysis, to the data analyze  about the metaphor in the Book of Proverbs in the Bible, the writer uses the theory from Lakoff and Johnson, to analyze and describe metaphor in the Book of Proverbs.    The result of this research shows there are 27 metaphors in the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. There are divide into three kind metaphor According   to the theory of Lakoff and Johnson (2003) thus are three form metaphor:  anthropomorphic metaphor, animal metaphor, synesthetic metaphor found in the Book of Proverbs.  The finding of this research support the theory of Lakoff and Johnson (2003).  Keywords : Metaphor, Semantic analyze, Proverbs
