Abstract

I. Abstrak This research is entitled “Penggunaan Present Perfect Tense Bahasa Inggris oleh Siswa SMK Kesehatan Bakti Nusantara Gorontalo (Sebuah Analisis Kesalahan)”. The objectives of this research are to identify and classify the errors made by students of SMK Kesehatan Bakti Nusantara Gorontalo and analyze them based on Ellis’ (1997) theory about error analysis. Ellis categorizes three types of errors in the learner’s language namely omission, misinformation, and misordering. The writer used descriptive method in this research. The writer used a writing test consisting of present perfect tense material in order to get the data from the students.  The data were collected from two classes of SMK Kesehatan Bakti Nusantara Gorontalo in Nursing 1 and Nursing 2 which have studied about present perfect tense. There were 21 students in each class who took the test. The results of this research show that there are several errors that students made in the use of present perfect tense. The errors are classified into omission, misinformation, and misordering. The errors of omission include omission of verb ending in regular verb, omission of the auxiliary verb have/has, omission of preposition since and for, and omission of subject. The errors of misinformation include misinformation of past participle form of regular verb, misinformation of past participle form of irregular verb, misinformation of the auxiliary verb have/has, misinformation of the preposition since and for and misinformation of object. The errors of misordering include misodering of have/has in a question, misordering of preposition since and for, misordering of adverb already and misordering of conjuction yet. Abstract

ABTRACT The research is entitled ‘Imperative Sentences in the Film Cinderella by Kenneth Branagh. The objectives of this research are to identify, classify and analyze the imperative sentences. The problems of this research are focused on the forms and functions of imperative sentences. The data are taken from the Film ‘Cinderella’ by Kenneth Branagh and the method of research is descriptive method.  The identification and classification of the data are based on the theory of Quirk and Greenbeum related to the forms of imperative sentence. In addition, the data analysis related to the functions of imperative sentence uses the theory of Aarts and Aarts. The result of this research show that the forms consist of commands without subject (sixty nine sentences), commands with a subject (twenty eight sentences), commands with let or let’s (eleven sentences), negative commands (eight sentences), and persuasive commands (six sentences). Command without subject is the most used form by the characters in film ‘Cinderella’; In term of the function of imperative sentence, they are command, wish, invitation and warning. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is conducted in order to improve the writing skills of the grade eight students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Talangbatu Tangkiang by using a roundtable strategy. In conducting this research, the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research. This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they were: Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. To collect and analyze the data, the researcher used the descriptive qualitative method. The qualitative data obtained by observing the teaching and learning process, interviewing the English teachers and the students of grade eight. The qualitative data were in the form of observation sheets, teaching journals and interview. The successful of criteria of this research were the students might be able to write the descriptive text through the successful of process. The results showed that the roundtable strategy can improve the students of eight grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Talangbatu Tangkiang’s writing skill on descriptive text. The improvements could be seen in the teaching and learning process, participations, enthusiasm, understanding the material of descriptive text, and classroom circumstances became better.   Keywords : CAR, Roundtable Strategy, Writing, Descriptive Text, Junior High School.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penulisan ini mengambil topik tentang Kakas Dalam Peristiwa Permesta 1957-1961: “ditinjau dari sudut pandang sejarah”. Dalam penulisan ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu heuristik, kritik analisa, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Selain menggunakan metode sejarah, penulis juga menggunakan ilmu sosial yang berhubungan dengan penulisan ini. Ilmu sosial sebagai alat bantu untuk menjawab apa yang menjadi masalah dalam suatu penulisan sejarah.                                                                                                                     Karya ilmiah ini berisi tentang Kakas dalam peristiwa Permesta yang dimulai sejak tahun 1957-1961. Di dalamnya terdapat tentang awal terbentuknya permesta secara umum hingga masuknya di wilayah Kakas, dan seterusnya berisi tentang asal mula penduduk membentuk suatu pemukiman dan perkampungan sampai menjadi wilayah kecamatan Kakas yang kini telah terbagi menjadi dua kecamatan yaitu: Kakas Induk dan Kakas Barat, Juga menguraikan tentang keadaan Pemerintahan, penduduk, sosial budaya, dan keadaan ekonomi di wilayah Kakas.              Selanjutnya menjelaskan mengenai bagaimana situasi dan kondisi masyarakat Kakas pada tahun 1957-1961, serta situasi dan kondisi ekonomi, juga keadaan masyarakat terhadap pergolakan daerah Permesta.                                                                                                          Menjelaskan juga mengenai bagaimana proses peran serta masyarakat serta faktor-faktor yang mendorong hingga masyarakat terlibat Permesta dan bagaimana taktik serta strategi perlawanan terhadap pemerintah pusat dan juga bagaimana akibat dari perlawanan tersebut. Kata Kunci : Kakas, Peristiwa, Permesta, 1957-1961

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled ?Perlocutionary aspects in the film Spy by Paul Feig?. The analysis of this research focuses on the aspects of perlocutionary acts of utterances which are identified in the film Spy. This research contributes to the development of linguistics in the field of pragmatics especially the aspects of perlocutionary acts in the film ?Spy? by Paul Feig. The collected data are identified, classified, and analyzed descriptively in term of how the aspects of perlocutionary acts is performed in the film by using Leech?s theory (1983 : 203) about aspects of perlocutionary acts of utterances. The result of this research shows that the aspects of perlocutionary acts found in this film are 36 utterances which are bringing the hearer to learn that, persuade, encourage, irritate, frighten, amuse, get the hearer to do, inspire, impress, distract, get the hearer to think about, attract attention, and bore.      Keywords : pragmatics, speech act, perlocutionary acts, film.

Abstract

ABSTRACT North and South is a social novel written by Elizabeth Gaskell. She describes the life situation and condition in the Era of Victoria. Through the unique story of her, Elizabeth Gaskell successfully represents the real event in the reign of Queen Victoria. This research entitled “Kelas Sosial dalam Novel North and South, Karya Elizabeth Gaskell.” It presents the classification of social class and also the effects of social controversy that are reflected through the novel. The purpose of this study is to identify, describe and analyze the social class classification which is reflected in the novel North and South. It also aims to identify and analyze the effects of that social class classification through the character, lifestyle, and pride. The theories that used in this research are by Wellek and Warren (1949) and Karl Marx (1977). The method which is used in this research is descriptive method by Nazir (1988). In analyzing the data, the writer uses intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach is used in analyzing characters, social lifestyle, and pride through the people, based on the social classes where they belong. The extrinsic approach is used in analyzing the effects of social classes contradiction to the people in the novel. The result of this research shows the correlation of social class in the Era of Victoria and its effects of social class on society in the novel North and South.   Keywords: Social Class, Era Victoria, Novel, North and South, Elizabeth Gaskell

Abstract

ABSTRAKTION   Diese Untersuchung behandelt sich über “Präposition Akkusativ und Dativ im Jugendmagazin (JUMA)”. Die Probleme in dieser Untersuchung sind welche Akkusativ- und Dativpräpositionen es im Jugendmagazin (JUMA) gibt und was die Bedeutung der Akkusativ- und Dativpräpositionen im Jugendmagazin (JUMA) sind.Sie hat das Ziel, um die Akkusativ- und Dativpräpositionen zu analysieren, zu identifizieren, zu klasifizieren und zu beschreiben und um die Bedeutung der Akkusativ- und Dativpräpositionen zu analysieren und zu beschreiben. Die Daten werden von Jugendmagazin (JUMA) bekommen. Als die Theoretische Grundlage verwendet der Schreiber die Meinungen von Paul Grebe und Dreyer und Schmitt. Der Schreiber benutzt eine deskriptive Methode, um die Daten zu analysieren. Präpositionen mit dem Akkusativ im Jugendmagazin sind bis, durch, entlang, für, gegen, ohne, um. Präposition mit dem Dativ im Jugendmagazin sind ab, aus, auβer, bei, dank, entgegen, gegenüber, gemäβ, mit, nach, seit, von, zu.  Die Bedeutung der Präposition beziehen sich auf die Zeit, Ort, sorgen, ablehnung, Werkzeug oder vermitteln, Zahl, Verlust, Vergleich, Gröβe, Art, Ziel, und gehören.   Stichwörter: die Präposition, Akkusativ, Dativ, Jugendmagazine

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Functions and Categories of Simple Sentences in English Teaching Forum Journal” is a syntactic analysis which describes the functions and categories of the immediate constituent in simple sentences. This research is an attempt to identify, classify, and analyze the simple sentences in the Journal in terms of the functions and categories. This is a descriptive study that used the concept of Aarts and Aarts (1982). The function is a linguistic unit that plays its role in a larger linguistic structure and the category is a linguistic unit as something that has individual characteristic. The result of this research shows that, the functions found externally are subject, predicate, and adverbial. Internally, the functions found are predicator and complement which consist of direct object, subject attribute, and predicator complement. The function of indirect object, object benefactive, and object attribute are not found in this journal. The categories found externally are noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, adverb phrase, and prepositional phrase. Internally, only the structures of the noun phrase which is analyzed. The internal structure of noun phrase found are pre-determiner, post-determiner, pre-modifier, post- modifier and head (H).
