Abstract

ABSTRACT As the requirement to accomplish the Bachelor Degree in English Literature at Faculty of Humanities in Sam Ratulangi University, this research entitled “Analisis Tema Dalam Novel The Fault In Our Stars karya John Green” is completed and submitted. The aims of this research are to identify, classify and analyze the theme in the novel The Fault in Our Stars through the characters, plot and setting. The author uses the theory of Stanton (1965) to analyze the major theme in the novel The Fault in Our Stars through the characters, plot and setting. Intrinsic approach is used to understand the characters through physical interaction, is the thoughts and problems that occur in their lives. Understanding the plot is through the sequence of events that happen and understanding the setting is through the time and place where the story takes place, including is describing a situation or object. The results of this research show that the novel The Fault In Our Stars is a novel with a theme on teens’ struggle against cancer, who have a passion for life. This can be seen through the characters, plot and setting in The Fault in Our Stars.   Keywords: Theme, Struggle, and TheFault in Our Stars

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sinonime は日本語に訳すると類義語と言う、幾つかの言葉で発音すると違う言葉だが意味がそっくりだと言う意味です。日本語の類義語は動詞だけではなく、名詞と形容詞にもある。例として「習う」及び「学ぶ」と言う動詞だ。これらの動詞の意味はインドネシア語で訳すると「Belajar」だが、使い分けが大変異なっている。それから「習う」および「学ぶ」という類意動詞(るいいどうし)の意味(いみ)および使(つか)い分(わ)け、に関(かん)して明(あき)らかにすることを目的(もくてき)とする。 本研究(ほんけんきゅう)のデータを集める方法は日本語の教書に載せている例文を集めて、次にデディステディの類意の理論に基づいて分析する。それから、レポートを書(か)く際(さい)に記述的(きじゅつてき)の理論(りろん)に基(もと)づいて書(か)くことにする。 分析(ぶんせき)の際、以下の結果を見つけた。「習う」は技術や技能の泳ぐことやピアノを弾くことや空手、茶道などに関する言葉に使用する。ただし指導教官に教えてもらうと言うことを表す。ところが、「学ぶ」は一般科のことを勉強することを表す。たとえば、大学で勉強したりするのを表す。   最後はこの成果が日本語教育現場に多少なりとも役立てばと思っている。 キーワード: 動詞習うおよび学ぶの意味、使い分けの分析、日本語文におなりとも役立てばと思っている。

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study entitled “Schizophrenia of the Main Character in the Novel Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. A Psichological Approach.” The objective of this research is to identify, classify and to analyze the mental dissorder namely ‘Schizophrenia’ of the main character in the novel entitled Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. The study is based on Psikological approach generally, and specifically on ‘Schizophrenia’. ‘Schizophrenia’ of the main character then will be classified and categorized by its symptoms and causes. The writer is focusing on the main character with the extrinsic approach of analysis. Therefore, emphasizing on the identification of ‘schizophrenia’s’ sympthoms as it is indicated on the main character, based on the diagnosis of international standard Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (2000), as well as identifying the determining factors of how the main character in the novel Fight Club related with the mental illness, namely ‘Schizophrenia’ based on a UK medical journal, The Lancet (2009). The result of this study shows how schizophrenia affects the main character in the novel Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. The result also shows the causes of schizophrenia found in the main character of Fight Club.   Keywords: Schizophrenia, the main character/the unnamed narrator, psychological analysis

Abstract

Abstrak Penulisan skripsi ini menggunakan metode sejarah, dengan langkah-langkah : Heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, historiografi. Data diperoleh melalui membaca literatur yang relevan dengan perumusan masalah yang telah ditetapkan, kemudian dilakukan penulisan sesuai dengan permasalahan yang telah dirumuskan dan tujuan yang akan dicapai. Dari hasil penggunan metode sejarah tersebut, maka diperoleh hasil penelitian perdagangan perempuan di Kota Manado adalah sebagai berikut : (1) faktor yang paling utama timbulnya perdagangan perempuan di Kota Manado yaitu adalah faktor kemiskinan, seorang wanita yang terlahir dari keluarga yang tidak mampu menggunakan segala cara untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya dengan cara mudah mendapatkan uang. (2). Dalam setiap tahun perkembangan kasus perdagangan perempuan di Kota Manado, sering mengalami pergerakan yang sangat jelah. Seperti pada tahun 2008 jumlah korban perdagangan perempuan sebnayak 24 orang dan tersangkanya jauh lebih tinggi yaitu sebanyak 30 orang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is focused on the commissive act in Colours Garuda Indonesia Magazines. The commissive act is one of many illocutionary acts which essentially involves the speaker committing himself to behave in some required ways, for instance promising and swearing. The aim of this research is to find out and to analyze the categories of commissive in Colours Garuda Indonesia Magazines advertisement especially Consumer Advertisement that refer to illocutionary function and to analyze how they are performed. In collecting the data, the writer focused on Colours Garuda Indonesia Magazines, editions January 2015, February 2015 and March 2015. Then the writer analyzes the collected data descriptively by using the theory of Austin and Tallei. The result of this study shows that there is a linguistics message in every text of an advertisement; it is used in the advertisement to give information and emotional response. There is commissive function of offering in every utterance in advertisement and the other commissive function such as persuading and promising which are found in consumer’s advertisements. It is expected that this study may help the students or readers to comprehend the illocutionary act, particularly about the commissive in the consumer advertisement in Colours Garuda Indonesia Magazines.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This Research is an attempt to identify and analyze the perlocutionary act in Coldplay hit song lyrics. The collected data have been identified by using Leech’s concept about the kind of the aspect of perlocutionary act and then analyzed them descriptively in terms of how the aspect of perlocutionary acts revealed by the speaker in the songs. The method which is used in this research is descriptive method. In collect data, the writer focused on identifying the aspect of perlocutionary act found in each lyrics of the songs. The Result shows that in terms of identified and analyzed the aspect of perlocutionary act. The writer found some aspect of perlocutionary act such as, bring hearer to know, persuade, amuse, get the hearer to do, and get the the hearer to think wheres the other aspect of perlocutioary act such as encourage, irritate, and relieve tension did not find in Coldplays hit songs lyrics.   Key words : Perlocutionary Aspect, Hit Songs of Coldplay, Pragmatic Studi

Abstract

ABSTRACT   The research is entitled ‘Interrogative sentences in English and Sangir Language. This study is an attempt to describe and analyze the English and Sangir Languagewhich focuses on the interrogative sentence in relation to their form and function in both languages based on Aarts and Aart’s theory and to compare by using Lado’s theory. The English and Sangir Languages are two languages from different language families. English is included in Indo-European and Sangir language is included in Austronesian one. Each of them has its own characteristic. The English data have been collected from books, whereas the data of Sangir language have been collected by interviewing some informants. The data are then analyzed and described using contrastive analysis approach. The result shows that forms of interrogative sentences in English are yes-no question, tag question and interrogative word question. English and Sangir language have similarities, in the form of yes-no question word is at the beginning of sentence and Sangir language at the beginning of sentence. The differences both languages are in form and function. In English has three form of interrogative sentences such as yes-no question, wh-question and tag question. Sangir language only has one question form such as Wh-question (Karapa, Koapa, Nikapura, Kangere, Suapa, Kosai). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Keywords : Interrogative sentences, English and Sangir Language, Contrastive Analysis.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Analisis Kesalahan Pronouns oleh Siswa Kelas XII Bahasa SMA N 1 Tombariri” is an attempt to identify, classify and analyze errors in the use of pronouns made by students of SMA N 1 Tombariri. The method used in this research is descriptive. Aarts and Aarts’ (1982) theory is used to identify and classify the types of pronouns and Ellis (1998) theory is used to analyze the types of pronouns errors made by students of SMA N 1 Tombariri. The data of this research were taken from the students’ assignment. The result of this research shows that there are three kinds of errors made by the students. First, omission is to omit a pronoun that is required for an utterance to be considered grammatical. Second, misinformation is the use one pronoun unproperly. Third, misordering is putting the pronouns in an utterance in the wrong order.   Keywords : Error analysis, pronouns, omission, misinformation, misordering
