Abstract

The objective of this research were to find out the efforts of Louisa Clark’s to change lives in the Me Before You movie based on striving for superiority and creative self by Alfred Adler. This research use qualitative method to analyze the data. The source data of the research focus on captures from the movie, actions, and sounds or dialogues that describe the efforts of Louisa Clark. The result of this research showed that there are three efforts found, namely getting a job, travelling plans, and living the conveted life.

Abstract

This paper examines the Cultural struggle during the time of crisis movie “Hillbilly Elegy”. The purpose of this paper is to identify what is the indicators of cultural struggle during the time of crisis reflected in “Hillbilly Elegy” and to describe the depiction of cultural struggle during the time of crisis reflected in “Hillbilly Elegy” The research uses qualitative as a method in this review.

Abstract

This study aims at explaining the transitivity processes and their effectiveness in Jonathan Murray Chu's Crazy Rich Asians movie. It uses a qualitative method. The data are the utterances of the characters in the Crazy Rich Asians movie. Then, they are categorized and analyzed based on the processes of transitivity and their effectiveness. The types of transitivity processes found in the movie are material processes of action and event, mental processes of perception, cognition and affection, relational processes of identification and attributive, verbal processes, behavioral processes, and existential process. For their effectiveness transitivity components can be measured by ten parameters i.e participant, kinesis, aspect, punctuality, affirmation, mode, agency, affectedness of object, and individuation of object.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of politeness in the novel Geez And Ann by Rintik Sedu. This research is a qualitative research using document analysis method. Data collection using document study techniques. Data analysis used content analysis techniques. Data sourced from the novel Geez and Ann in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The results of the study indicate that the use of politeness in language is often done because the speech participants already know and try to show their attention with sympathy.

Abstract

They are responding to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the world of education in Indonesia. This study aims to develop writing skills using virtual field trips. Virtual field trips based on google earth are used as field trip learning innovations visualized digitally based on internet technology to support the implementation of field studies without leaving the classroom. This research uses Action Research research. From each cycle that was applied, students showed their active participation in producing descriptive paragraph text and showed their willingness to communicate and discuss. These results reflect students' acceptance of the applied learning method because they feel that the applied method helps improve their writing skills

Abstract

This study found that the personality disorder suffered by Anna is borderline personality disorder. This study is intended to explain the symptom of borderline personality disorder experienced by Anna are the instability in her mood and behavior and the fear of abandonment and the instability in her interpersonal relationships This study is conducted using a qualitative design because the data collected and analyzed are in the form of words. Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the psychopath behavior shown by Esther as a main character in the Orphan film and the cause of her psychopath behavior. This research is descriptive qualitative research by using the psychopath's theory from Hare (2011). Orphan is a psychopathic, thriller, and psychological-themed film directed by Jaume Collet Serra which was released in 2009. The result analysis shows that in the film Orphan, Esther shows a psychopath behavior as the main character, they are: 1) displays a false or superficial self-charm, 2) Failure to conform to social norms (likely to breach social and legal standards and conventions), 3) Having unstable ad uncontrolled emotion, 4) Acting reckless, impulsive, and hard to control, 5) Heartless and lacks empathy, 6 )Lack of remorse, easy to lie for no reason and without guilt (deception), 7) Tending to seek the attention of others, 8) Capable of committing various types of criminal acts such as killing Sister Abigail, burning Max, trying to kill Max, stabbing John, shooting and stabbing Kate, 9) Behave aggressively, 10) Manipulative and likes to cheat, and 11) Having a history of being difficult, criminal, or dangerous experience. The cause of Esther’s psychopath is caused by a hormone disorder called hypopituitarism. It likes a body disorder. She looks like a 9-year-old physically, but psychologically she is normal as a 33-year-old woman, with feelings of liking for the sex and having biological needs. It can be seen from his attitude that always tries to be close to the father of his adoptive family, namely when he dresses up as an adult and then teases Jack, his adoptive father.

Abstract

The interactive cultural discourse in the Gandrung Terob song verses can provide a new indication. The song verse applied in the Gandrung Terob are an oral presentation and surely have their own purpose and meaning in it. The verse of the song contains a presentation of the original language of the City of Banyuwangi,, namely: Osing language used by indigenous people in Kemiren village. This study examines the use of the Gandrung Terob song verses in the first stage of Jejer Gandrung. The purpose of this study is to describe how the function of the Gandrung Terob song verse in the City of Banyuwangi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The data in this study are in the form of song verse speech used during the Jejer Gandrung staging in the Gandrung Terob performance. The scalpel used by researchers uses analysis in terms of cultural discourse. Meanwhile, on the data of the reading the verses of the Gandrung Terob song, the researcher transcribed the verses of the song using heuristic and hermeneutic reading techniques as reference. In addition, the main data analysis technique reference, the researcher using John W. Creswell's data analysis technique. Thus, the data obtained will be more valid and clear. The source of the data in the study was obtained from the speech contained in the Jejer Gandrung stage of the Gandrung Terob song verses in the City of Banyuwangi. The results of this study found 329 data consisting of three sub-focuses contained in the formulation of the problem. Hopefully this research can be used as an additional reference in the study of cultural discourse analysis.

Abstract

The objective of this research were to find out the character of Louisa Clark’s in the Me Before You movie based on individual psyhology by Alfred Adler. This research use qualitative method to analyze the data. The source data of the research focus on captures from the movie, actions, and sounds or dialogues that describe the character of Louisa Clark. The result of this research showed that there six principles namely, fictional finalism, inferiority feeling, striving of superiority, social interest, style of life, and creative self.

Abstract

This study represents the types and reasons for code-switching used by Alumni of IISJ. It was conducted using descriptive research. IISJ’s Alumni use all types of code-switching; tag-switching (6), intersentential-switch (25), and intrasentential-switch (19). Additionally, 7 reasons for code-switching occured; filling the linguistic needs (17), continuing the last language used (7), specifying addressee (4), qualifying message (9 data), specifying speaker involvement (5), marking and emphasizing group identity (5), conveying confidentiality, anger, and annoyance (3).
