Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research were tostudy the effect of Binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia Steen.) on blood glucose content of white male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with sucrose.  This research using Randomized Controlled Group Design (RAL).The subjects in these research were 15 mices which divided into 3 groups, namely a negative control group (aquadest), a positive control group (Glucobay4,5 mg/KgBB) and treatments groupusing crude extract of Binahong leaf 1,8 g/KgBB.  Data were obtained after blood glucose examination at 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes treatment. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and LSD to compare the effect of treatment. Statistical analysis shows that there are significant effect between a negative control group and treatment group, a negative control group and a positive control group, but did not show differences between treatment group and a positive control group.  The conclusion is Binahong leaf extract possess activity to decrease blood glucose content of white male wistar induced with sucrose.   Keywords: Anredera cordifolia Steen.,Extract, blood glucose content

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to study the effect of Goroho banana (Musa Acuminate L.) peel extract on the decreasing of blood glucose content  of white male wistar induced with sucrose. This research using Randomized Controlled Group Design .The subjects in these research were 15 mices which divided into 3 groups, namely negative control (aquadest),  treatments groupusing Goroho banana peel extract 0,03 g/KgBB, and positive control using metformin 45 mg/KgBB. Data were obtained from fasting blood glucose examination, 30 minutes after induced with sucrose, and at 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes treatment. Data analyzed statistically using ANOVA (Analysis Of Variant), the results extract goroho banan peel provide an effect on blood glucose content. LSD (Least Significant Different) domonstrate distinct difference, significant effect between negative group with treatment, negative group with positive group, but did not show differences between treatment group with positive group. Is Goroho banana peel extract exhibit activity to decrease blood glucose content of white male wistar induced with sucrose. Abstract

ABSTRACT The cooperleaf herb (Acalypha indica L.) is a plant which is used as a traditional medicine. The cooperleaf herb leave is a part of the plant to use for decreasing the blood sugar level. The aimed of this research is to know the giving effect of the cooperleaf herb leave ethanol extract to the blood sugar level of strain wistar white male mice which is inducted by sucrose. Fifteen strain wistar white male mice are divided into five treatment groups namely negative control group, positive control group, the group of the cooperleaf herb leave extract with doses 3,15 g extract/ kg body weight, 6,3 g extract/ kg body weight, and 12,6 g extract/ kg body weight. The data obtained from the examination  by sucrose and at 15, 30, 60, 120 minutes after gave treatment. The data are analyzed by using One Way ANOVA and to be continued with LSD test for seeing the differentiation between the treatments. The result of this research show the cooperleaf herb leave ethanol extract with with doses 3,15 g extract/ kg body weight, 6,3 g extract/ kg body weight, and 12,6 g extract/ kg body weight have the effect to decrease the blood sugar level of strain wistar white male mice.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to determine antioxidant n activity from pineapple peal extract. Pineapple peel extracted by maceration, soxhlet and reflux using ethanol 80% as a solvent. Phenolics and flavonoids content of Crude extract were analyzed.Evaluation of antioxidant activity using DPPH free radicals method, The results shows that maceration, soxhlet and reflux extract possess phenolics content 16,53; 28,78; 16,02 g/mL respectively, and  flavonoid total content 3,514; 5,115; 4,414 g/mL respectively. Maceration extract with concentration 3000 g/mL possess low free radical scavenging activity, and soxhlet extract possess the highest.Inhibition concentration 50% (IC50) of soxhlet extract were 602,56 g/mL, it?s indicate that soxhlet extract possess high scavenging of 50% free radicals. This result shows that pineapple peel extract possess phytochemical phenolics and flavonoids that potential to be antioxidant and as active compound of sun screen. Abstract

ABSTRACTVitamin C is one of the nutrients that role as antioxidant and effectively overcome the freeradicals that can damage cells or tissue. Fruit is a good source of vitamin C, such as themango fruit. This study aimed to determine the levels of vitamin C in the mango fruit usingUV-Vis spectrophotometry method and Iodimetry method, and compare the results of bothmethods. Samples were identified as ripe mango. In this study, the levels of vitamin C wereanalyzed by using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and Iodimetry. The results of the analysis ofvitamin C in the mango dodol by using UV-Vis spectrophotometry is 15.88 g/100g, whereasthe content of vitamin C by using Iodimetry was 3.5 g/100g. From these results, showed thelevels of vitamin c by using the spektrofotometry uv-vis method is higher than the iodimetrymethod.Keywords: Vitamin C, mango, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, Iodimetry.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Binahong leaf as traditional medicine possess antibacterial activity. The aims of this research were to study the effectivity of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) leaf extract ointment on wound infected with Staphylococcus aureus, and to study the differences effectivity of Binahong leaf extract ointment (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) as antibacterial with concentration 10%, 20% and 40%. This research using laboratory experimental method. The subjects in these research were 5 rabits which divided into 5 groups, namely negative control, positive control and treatments group with concentration 10%, 20% and 40% of Binahong leaf extract ointment. Rabits back were wounded 2,5 cm and infected with Staphylococcus aureus. Research and statistical results shows that Binahong leaf extract ointment possess wound healing effectivity to the wound infected with Staphylococcus aureus. At concentration 10%, it already exhibit healing effectivity, although concentration 20% and 40% shows more healing effectivity. The increases of concentration of Binahong leaf extract ointment effectively heal the wound infected with Staphylococcus aureus.   Key words : Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Abstract

ABSTRACT Cosmetic whitening is a cosmetic that contains the active ingredient intended to bleach and brighten the skin or whiten the skin. Retinoic acid is used in whitening creams but is prohibited because it can cause dry skin, burning, and teratogenic (defects in the fetus). The purpose of this study was to determine whether whitening creams circulating in the city of Manado contains retinoic acid and to determine the levels of retinoic acid whitening cream found on the face. The samples studied were lightening cream sample A, sample B, sample C, sample D and sample E. The qualitative identification of retinoic acid have been done with Thin Layer Chromatocraphy (TLC) it has been given the dark blood if seen in UV spectrum 254 nm. Quantitative analysis was done by UV spectrophotometric maximum wavelength of 352 nm. The results indicated that three of sample contaided retinoic acid. Retinoic acid concentration in sample C was 0,021%, sample D was 0,026%, sample E was 0,016% and product retinoic acid cream (Vitacid) was 0,053%. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the characteristics with acute diarrhea treated in inpatient installation of BLU RSUP Prof. DR. R. D. Kandou Manado and overview the treatments. This study is a descriptive research and data collection as retrospective for 2 months from November to December 2012 at the Inpatient Installation of BLU RSUP Prof. DR. R. D. Kandou Manado.  The study was conducted on 84 records medical records of acute diarrhea.  The results show all of the patients used ORS (100 %), but accompanied by the use of other drugs that can help cure the acute diarrhea and treat the other clinical symptoms that accompany acute diarrhea likes fever and vomiting. Additional treatment that used is zinc by 69%, 58% use antipyretics, antiemetics were 27%, 16% use antibiotics and 12 % use probiotics.   Keywords : Diarrhea, Acute Diarrhea, Acute Diarrhea Treatments

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to determineflavonoid content and total antioxidant capacity of  Ethanolic extract of Binahong Leaf[Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis]. Total flavonoid were evaluated using Chang (2002) method, identification of flavonoid using thin layer chromatography and color reaction. Evaluation of antioxidant activity using ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) method. The results shows that ethanolic extract of Binahong leaf possess total flavonoids 11,266 mg/kg (fresh) and 7,687 mg/kg (dry). Flavonoids contain in both extracts were flavonols group. Ethanolic extract of Binahong possess total antioxidant 4,25 mmol/100g (fresh) and 3,68 mmol/100g (dry). Abstract

ABSTRACTIodine deficiency disorder can be prevented by consumption of salt which contains iodine into the body. Based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI), concentration of Potassium iodide(KIO3) were 30-80 ppm. The objectives of this research were to identify and determineconcentration of potassium iodide in salt which marketed in Bitung region. Samples were 9branded salts and 1 sample unbranded. Identification was done by Potassium cation test andIodide anion test. Determination of Potassium iodide were done using spectrophotometerUV-Vis. The results shows that 9 samples contains Potassium iodide (Branded salts), and 1sample did not contains Potassium iodide (Unbranded salt). Based on spectrophotometeranalysis, there were 5 samples comply SNI of KIO3 (31,6-77,6 ppm), 5 samples did notcomply SNI of KIO3 (2,1-28 ppm).Keywords : Potassium iodide, iodine salt, Spectrophotometry UV-vis, Bitung
