Abstract

The objectives of study was to determine free radical scavenging and singlet oxygen quenching (SOQ)activity in turmeric leaves extract. Analyses of phytochemicals were based on total phenolic, flavonoid andcondensed tannins. The radical scavenging activities of extracts were determined by 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Turmeric leaves powder was extracted with methanol 80%, ethanol 80% danacetone 80% at room temperature for 24 hours, respectively. Singlet oxygen quenching (SOQ) activity ofeach tumiric leaves extracts at 500-1500 ppm level. SOQ activity test was conducted using linoleic acid assubstrates each containing 5 ppm erythrosine as a photosensitizer. The highest total phenolic flavonoidcontent was detected in methanol extract, followed by acetone extract and ethanol extract. Contrary,ethanol extract contained higher contents of condensed tannins than methanol extract and aceton extract.The addition of metanol extracts of turmeric leave in the reaction mixture showed the highest scavengingactivity in DPPH free radical followed by acetone extract and ethanol extract. The singlet oxygenquenching activities of turmeric extracts were greatly different in different solvents. The methanol extractexhibited the highest singlet oxygen quenching activities followed by acetone extract and ethanol extractunder fluorescent light for up to 5 hours. Abstract

Keberadaan enzim pencernaan dalam lebah madu memainkan peran yang penting dalam kehidupanlebah. Enzim glukosidase dalam lebah madu diproduksi dalam kelenjar hipofaring dan disekresikan masukke dalam system pencernaan. Ketersediaan berbagai teknik elektroporetik membuka ruang lebih besaruntuk mengisolasi dan karakterisasi enzim ini sebagai cara baru untuk memahami fungsinya. Tiga sepsislebah madu yaitu Apis mellifera, A. cerana dan A. dorsata. SDS PAGE digunakan untuk verifikasiefesiensi setiap proses pemurnian protein menjadi protein murni. Kombinasi proses electrophoreticstaining and deglycosilation karbohidrat digunakan untuk mengetahui sifat enzim ini. Dua α-glucosidases(1 dan 2) telah dimurnikan menggunakan berbagai tenik kromatografi, tetapi β-glucosidase hanya dapatdimurnikan setelah menggunakan Native PAGE. Massa molekul relatif (Mr’s) enzim (α-glucosidase-1, α-glucosidase-2 dan β-glucosidase) dari A. mellifera adalah 90, 78 dan 72 kDa. Sedangkan enzim yangberasal dari A. cerana adalah 90, 77, dan 82 kDa. Titik isoelektrik (pI) enzim tersebut dari A. melliferaadalah 7.3, 7.5, dan 4.7, sedangkan dalam A. cerana 5.7, 6.2, dan 4.5. Berdasarkan Native IEF-PAGE,α-glucosidase-1 mengandung pita yang lebar, α-glucosidase-2 mengandung hanya pita yang sempit, danβ-glucosidase mengandung beberapa pita. Abstract

A study has been carried out to synthesis of 1-(3,4-methylenediooxyphenil)-2-propylalcohol from safrole. Thesynthesize was done using react the oxymercuration-demercuration by means of mercury of acetate andsodium of boronhydride, while identifying conducted with the liquid gas chromatography and spectrometer.The experimental result show that the percentage yield of 1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenil)-2-propylalcohol was77,78%. Keywords: 1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenil)-2-propylalcohol

Abstract

This research was aimed to isolate and identify the structure of secondary metabolities from gedileaf. In order to achieve this research aim, an extraction of the gedi leaf tissue with mwthanol solvent hadbeen carried out. These extract then was partitioned in several organic solvents such as n-hexane,chloroform, and ethyl acetate. Further, the resulted partition was fractionation and purifying undergoes anappropriate method like liquid and vacuum pressure chromatography. To determine the chemical structureof the isolate, a complication of several spectroscopic methods, such as infrared (IR), 1H and 13 C nuclearmagnetic resonance (NMR), and an advanced NMR techniques (HMQC, HMBC, and COSY). Abstract

Isoterm adsorpsi air dan etanol fase gas pada zeolit A yang disintesis dari silika gel dan aluminiumhidroksida serta diaktivasi pada 373 K dan 573 K telah dikaji. Eksperimen dilakukan menggunakanmetode gravimetri pada kondisi statis dan data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan model isotermadsorpsi Dubinin-Raduskevich untuk memperoleh nilai kapasitas adsorpsi dan energi adsorpsi. Hasil yangdiperoleh menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas adsorpsi zeolit untuk air lebih besar dibandingkan untuk etanolkarena molekul air berukuran lebih kecil dan lebih polar. Abstract

The objective of this research was to study active carbon quality from hybrid and deep coconut shell. Theparameter to analyze quality of active carbon were water content, ash content, volatile content, bondingcarbon content, Iodine value, and % tetrachloride. Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine singlet oxygen quenching (SOQ) effects of colorantextracts of spinach leave on erythrosine-sensitized photooxidation of linoleic acid, protein and vitamine C.Spinach leave was extracted with water, ethanol 40%, 60% and 80% for 30 minutes. Analyses ofantioxidant phytochemicals were based on total phenolic and flavonoid contents. The extracts of spinachleaf evaluated singlet oxygen quenching effect using linoleic acid, protein and vitamine C as substrates eachcontaining 5 ppm erythrosine was exposed under fluorescent light (4000 lux). Extraction with ethanol 40%showed the highest yield of extract, followed with ethanol 60%, water and ethanol 80%. The result showedthat solvent was significantly have an effect on total phenolic content, which ethanol 60% extract was thehighest, followed with 80 and 40% ethanol extracts and water extract. Contrary, ethanol 40%, extractpossessed highest total flavonoid content than water extract, ethanol 60% and ethanol 80% extract.Futhermore, the result determined SOQ, water extract possessed highest SOQ compared with ethanol40%, 60% and 80% in photooxidation of linoleic acid system. However, ethanol extract 40% and ethanolextract 60% showed that highest activity than ethanol extract 80% and water extract in photoxidation ofprotein system whereas in photooxidation of vitamin C system, ethanol extract 60% showed higest activitycompared with etnanol extract 80, ethanol extract 40% and water. Abstract

A research was done to analyses oil quality in copra and coconut waste using some methods such aswater content, % Residual Oil Content. Base on results, data was obtained: water content (coconut waste)was 1.610%, Flakes Flakes value 8.322 and Conditioner Flakes value 1.612. water content for copra was6.785%, coconut waste (D.B) was 11.123% with Cooker Flakes value 2.112. Analyses of % Oil Contentcopra (dry basis, oven) was 65.329%, % Oil Content of copra (dry basis, oven) was 70.083%. Synthesis of dodecyl chloride produced by chlorination reaction of dodecanol with phosphor trichloride was14,48 grams (70,81%). Abstract

The contamination of gasoline is getting higher along with the increasing number of cars up to this days.With the improvement of lead polutant (Pb) on the air, human being will get more risk of being exposed bythe danger of this substance. Various effect of lead exposure toward human health are hypertension andoccupational fatigue. The workers of SPBU is a high risk group that was exposed by lead, since they wereused to exposed with fume or gasoline and smoke of cars. This research was aimed to find out therelationship between blood lead level and the incident of hypertension toward workers of SPBU in Manadomunicipality.This was a cross sectional research with 96 respondents. The bivariat analysis showed thatblood lead level had positive and significant correlation and yet weak toward hypertension incident(p<0,05; rpbis=0,324; rpbis2=0,105). The multivariate analysis showed that the blood lead level was asignificant predictor (p<0,05) toward hypertension incident with effective contribution of 6,74%. Theresearch result showed that the blood lead level had significant relationship and predictor towardhypertension after the other predictors being controlled. Therefore, prevention effort on the impact of leadthrough continuous health examination and application of health principles and occupational safety for theSPBU workers is necessary Keywords : blood lead level, hypertension
