Abstract

ABSTRACT Runtunuwu, S.D. and E.F. Lengkong. 2005. Identification of Isozyme Markers (PER-7, PER-8, and RAPD OBI7375) of Dwarf Salak Coconut (GSK) and its Tall Hibrids. Eugenia 11 (1): 8-17. The objective of this research was to identify PER-7 and PER-8 isozymes, and OB17 375 RAPD as molecular markers for resistance to NF Phytophthora disease in Genjah Salak (GSK) dwarf coconut and its several hybrids with Tall coconut at The Research Institute for Coconut and Palmae (RICP) Manado. Coconut resistance to NF Phytophthora disease was determined based on disease lesion size of inoculated coconut fruits at 7 days after inoculation. PER-7 and PER-8 isozymes marker were identified using horizontal starch gel electrophoresis, and OB17375 RAPD marker was identified based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using kit B number 17 primer (Operon Technologies, California). PER-7 isozyme marker could be used to select GSK x DTA (Dalam Tenga) and GSK x RLT (Rennell Tall) hybrid coconuts that resistant to NF Phytophthora disease. PER-7 isozyme without OB17375 markers (PER-7/-) could be used to select resistant GSK x WAT (West African Tall) hybrid coconut to the disease. Abstract

ABSTRACT Kalangi, J.I. 2005. Growth Analysis of Radish Crop (Raphanus Sativus L) Planted in Various Density. Eugenia 11 (1): 18-24. Plant density is known to be important factor to determine the agronomical target of a maximum production. Plant density is generally determined by spacing. The wide spacing, may caused inefficient farm system. On the contrary, narrow by spaced planting can retard growth. Prediction of growth rates and development of crop plants including radish is insufficient if it is relied only on the change that happens to the crop with days after planting. But the basis of the prediction is its potential production biomass. This research is discover the density that suistable for maximum land - use. This research was conducted in a randomized block design, with five density treatments. The treatments were 40 x 60 cm, 45 x 60 cm, 50 x 60 cm, 55 x 60 cm and 60 x 60 cm each of which is repeated three times. The variable obseverved was crop dry matter. Air temperature and rainfall were also recordee. Data were analysed using ANOVA and SSD for mens differences. Radish growth and produces were determined by growth rate (Cm), periode of linear growth (tm) and period of silent growth (to). Plant density significantly affected the growth of radish. The maximum production was found at 50x60 cm with growth rate6.23g m-2 day-1. Keywords: Raphanus sativus, radish growth

Abstract

ABSTRACT Tamod, Z.E. 2005. Porous Medium Filters as Environmental Sanitation Instrument of Instant Noodle Plant's Liquid Waste Water Based on the Organic Mater. Eugenia 11 (1): 60-73. The Riset porous medium filters and granulate as environmental sanitation instrument of instant noodle plant's liquid waste based of organic mater as problems solution industrial plants north Sulawesi on cleaning their liquid waste so as not to contaminate the surrounding environment and on recycling or cleaning the waste in order to efficiently reuse it. Liquid waste of instant noodle consists of the organic-liquid waste based on the raw materials from agricuIturecuItivation, like : flour (contain of carbohydrate, protein, vitamin and mineral organic compounds) and coconut oil (contain of the fat acids like laurate, palmitate, and oleate). The aims of this experiment are to evaluate the ability of sand+clay and clay+charcoal dust mixtures as porous medium filters and to apply briquette in liquid waste recycling processes. Variables to be determined are suspended and soluble materials, acidity, electrical conductivity, BOD, COD, organic material, cation exchange capacity, soluble oxygen, nitrate, turbidity, particle distribution, permeability. The experiment will be designed as a Completely Randomised, 3 replicates, and 3 treatments. Among the applied treatments are sand (T1), clay (T2), 60% clay+charcoal dust mixture (T3). Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of this research show that, the porous and grained medium from sand (T1), clay (T2) and clay + active charcoral dust mixture (T3) can be used as the environmental sanitation instrument on the Indofood instant noodle liquid waste based of organic mater. Abstract

ABSTRACT Paulus, J.M. 2005. Land Productivity, Competition, and Tolerance of Three Sweet Potato Clones Planted as Intercroping with Maize. Eugenia 11 (1): 1-7. A field experiment was conducted in Cikeumeuh Experimental Garden of Food Crop Biotechnology Research Station (BAUTBIO) Bogor to study Land Equivalent Ratio (LER), Competition Ratio (CR), and Stress Tolerance (TOL) of sweet potato and maize. The highest tuber yiled of sweet potato was 16,83 ton ha-[1] gained by CIP-2 at 100 cm planting distance of maize and the highest maize yiled was 4,50 ton ha-1 Cangkuang in intercropping with Cangkung clone. The LER, CR, and TOL, CIP-2 and SQ were suitable for intercrops at all planting distance but Cangkuang was not suitable for intercrops with maize.
