Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of the research was to studied the application of gliricidia MOL on the growth and yield of lowland rice in the salibu method, and to get the best concentration of gliricidia liquid organic fertilizer  (POC) on the growth and production of lowland rice. Field research has been conducted in Tababo Village, Subdistrict of Belang, district of Southeast Minahasa. The treatment in the experiment consists of one treatment factor, that were concentrations of gliricidia POC, ie  : 0, 50 , 100, 150, and 200 ml/litre. The results showed that gliricidia POC  have an effect on plant height, the number of  grain/panicle, and the dry grain yield (GKP) / plot, but not affect the number of productive tillers and weight of 1,000 grain. The best results were achieved in gliricidia POC concentration 200 ml/litre  with the highest values were: plant height was 98.93 cm; 116.420 grain/panicle; and 8.300 kg dry grain yield or equivalent to 6.92 ton/ha.Keywords : gliricidia POC, production, lowland rice,  salibu method

Abstract

ABSTRACT South Minahasa Regency have a topography that varied from lowland to highland. Until now there has been no research on differences in the performance of agroforestry systems of lowland and highland agroecological zones. The purposes of this study were to analyze the diversity of plant species and to estimate the biomass amount of agroforestry systems at lowland and highland agroecological zones. The research was carried out from October to December 2017 at two different agroecological zones, namely; the highland (Mokobang Village) and the lowland (Blongko Village). The results showed that there were 21 plant species at lowland having 4 plant species in average, while 30 plant species were found in the highland with 6 plant species in average. The biomass of 0.25 to 13.11 Mg ha-1 with an average of 3.47 Mg ha-1 was found at lowland, whereas the highland contained 0.34 to 98.65 Mg ha-1 with an average of 27.40 Mg ha-1 biomass. It is concluded that in South Minahasa Regency the highland agroforestry system had more plant species and had more carbon sequestration than that of lowland. Keywords : agroforestry, highland zone, lowland zone

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to study 1) Maternal effect on the inheritance of yield components of Manado Yellow Corn, and 2) Inheritance of seed colour and seed type of Manado Yellow Corn. Research conducted in Kalasey village, Mandolang subdistrict, Minahasa regency, Province of North Sulawesi from April to September 2016. The plant material used is a local variety of Manado Yellow Corn that collectedin the laboratory of Plant Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sam Ratulangi, Manado. This research was arranged to compare two hybridization treatments, from two parent population, that is: 1) Local corn with yellow seed colour and flint seed type, 2) Local corn with yellow seed colour and dent seed type. Each treatment consisted of four replicates and each of replicating consisted of six female plants so that there were 24 ears from parents hybridization and (F1) and 24 ears of reciprocal hybridization (F1R). The results showed that 1) There was not maternal effect on the inheritance of yield components, such as the weight of the ear, length of the ear, the diameter of the ear, number of seed row per ear, number of yellow seed color and number of dent seed type with crossed the parent of Manado Yellow corn, 2) There was maternal effect on inheritance of flint seed type with crossed the parent of Manado Yellow corn and 3) The highest percentage of yellow seed color and flint seed type, the character of Manado Yellow Corn, obtained from crossing parents ♀ Flint × ♂ Dent. Keywords: dent, flint, anado yellow corn

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of which combination of fertilizer doses is best for the growth of Mustard Plant (Brassica juncea L.). And the research was conducted in Kelurahan Rurukan Tomohon Timur Subdistrict Tomohon City. Soil analysis was conducted in Soil Chemistry and Soil Fertility Department of Soil Agricultural Faculty of Sam Ratulangi University of Manado. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 7 treatment combinations and repeated as many as 4 (four) times to obtain 28 pot experiments. Each pot of the experiment contains 5 kg of soil. The results showed that soil mixture with various combinations of fertilizers had a significant effect on the height of the green mustard plant, the number of leaves of green mustard greens, and the fresh weight of the green mustard plant. The best combination of soil mixture with Urea, Sp36, and Compost fertilizer is 0.5 gram / pot Urea, 0.375 gram / pot Sp36, and 50 gram / pot compost. Keywords: urea fertilizer, Sp36 fertilizer, compost fertilizer

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of the research was to studied the application of gliricidia MOL on the growth and yield of lowland rice in the SRI method, and to get the best time of gliricidia MOL application on the growth and production of lowland rice. Field research has been conducted in Tara-Tara II Village, West Tomohon Subdistrict for five months starting from June 2017 until November 2017. Treatment in the experiment consists of one treatment factor, that was interval time of gliricidia MOL application, ie  : 0, 5 , 10, 15, and 20 days. The results showed that time application of gliricidia MOL have an effect on the number of productive tillers, the number of filled grain/panicle, the number  of empty grain/panicle, and the dry grain yield (GKP) / plot, but not affect the plant height. The best results were achieved in gliricia MOL application on interval time every 15 days with a values were : 28.66 productive tillers; 176.90 fillet grain/panicle; 19.80 empty grain/panicle (lowest); and 9.50 kg dry grain yield or equivalent to 7.92 ton/ha.Keywords: gliricidia MOL, production, lowland rice,  System of Rice Intensification  (SRI)

Abstract

ABSTRACT Infiltration and permeability are soil parameters that can be used to describe the extent of land damage caused by the mining process. In accordance with Law No. 4.of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining, that reclaiming mining land is obligatory for every company that manages it. This study aims to determine the rate of infiltration and permeability on the reclaimed gold mined land. The research was conducted at the gold mining location of Bakan and Lanut. Infiltration measurements were carried out on straight line transect along the foot slope to the top slope. Measurements were made at two meter distance in 5 cm depth along the transect line direction using the Guelph Permeameter. Hydraulic conductivity was calculated from infiltration data. This research revealed that reclamation has positive effect in increasing of infiltration rate and permeability. Crop dan root growth should have contributed in increasing soil organic matter, root and microbial activities, which leads to improve soil texture and soil structure. Keywords: infiltration, permeability, reclaimed
