Abstract

STKIP Pacitan has adopted Moodle as its primary Learning Management System (LMS) to improve the quality of learning and teaching efficiency in the digital era. Adapting to educational technology requires the faculty's deep understanding and effective management skills. Therefore, Moodle management training was conducted to enhance the faculty's abilities in planning, targeting, and producing quality learning outcomes. Through interactive sessions and workshops, faculty members were taught how to design courses, organize content, and utilize Moodle's features for more dynamic and participatory learning activities. The main focus of the training was on integrating assessment tools and discussion forums to enhance interaction and effective feedback. The training evaluation was conducted by measuring the faculty's performance before and after the training using indicators of course planning quality and evaluation tools. The training successfully demonstrated that the use of Moodle not only supports the efficiency of the teaching and learning process but also improves the quality of education at STKIP Pacitan, with increases of 27%, 68%, and 77% over three months in May, June, and July 2024, respectively. In addition, several applied learning methods positively impact students; feedback to students is increasingly focused (LMS record), which shows that learning effectiveness is increasing. This training recommends ongoing training to ensure optimal utilization of educational technology and continuous adaptation to the latest developments in educational technology.

Abstract

The waste problem is a global challenge that is faced daily, including in Indonesia. Organic waste that is not appropriately managed can hurt the environment. One effective solution is to process organic waste into compost and liquid organic fertilizer (POC). This activity aims to practice organic waste processing methods through training for students and teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 4, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The methods used are Project-Based Learning (PBL), which includes socialization to increase environmental awareness and training in practical composting and POC. The parameters measured include temperature and pH to monitor the composting and fermentation processes. The results of the activity showed that the participants were able to process organic waste into fertilizer well. Compost has an acidic pH (4-6) because lime is not added during the composting process. POC has a pH of 4, indicating effective fermentation activity. The temperature at POC ranged from 26°C to 28°C, with the highest temperature on day 12 indicating maximum degradation. This service activity increases participants' understanding and skills regarding organic waste processing. This activity also encourages schools to actively manage waste independently, creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

The ageing process brings many physical, psychological, social and spiritual changes to older people. Psychological and social changes include a different work rhythm due to retirement, loss of friends and partners, fear and anxiety about death, loneliness, etc. This leads to the risk of anxiety and depression in older people. Depression or psychosocial disorders affect older people physically and might reduce their quality of life. Therefore, in order to prevent and overcome these problems, an intervention is needed through laughter therapy. This community service activity consists of five stages, starting from problem identification to program sustainability follow-up. The participants of this activity were 37 elderly members of the hypertension class of Kalasan Puskesmas Area. The activity method consists of 5 stages. The elderly are empowered to practice laughter therapy, which is evaluated using the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) questionnaire. The results of the activity showed that the elderly had the ability to perform the therapy independently and that the results of the activity were able to reduce depression levels. In the pre-test assessment, 14.3% of respondents in the middle-aged group exhibited a severe level of depression. Meanwhile, the elderly and young-old groups demonstrated moderate levels of depression, with prevalence rates of 21.1% and 27.3%, respectively. Post-test findings indicated a positive shift across all three groups, with a reduction in depression severity. The proportion of individuals experiencing moderate depression decreased to 14.3% in the middle-aged group, 5.3% in the elderly group, and 9.1% in the young-old group.

Abstract

Banyu Urip Village is one of the villages located in the coastal area of Ujung Pangkah District, Gresik Regency. The local potential of Banyu Urip Village is green mussels, which are a result of the sea catch of fishermen in the local village. This potential is also a problem due to the accumulation of wasted green mussel shell waste that has not been managed optimally. With this problem, the community service team carried out community service activities aimed at providing alternative solutions as well as community empowerment. The method used in the community service activity of making green shell liquid organic fertilizer "CARAJA" is Participatory Action Research (PAR) with subjects of ± 25 people. The community service activities include 4 stages, namely 1) observation with partners, 2) socialization related to the management of green mussel shells, 3) training in making "CARAJA" liquid organic fertilizer and 4) experiments/trials on the use of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of mustard seedlings. The results of the community service analysis have shown changes in mustard green plant height when using liquid organic fertilizer, and local communities become knowledgeable and skilled in participating in various stages starting from observation, socialization, and training to experiments on the use of liquid organic fertilizer made from green mussel shell powder (CARAJA). In the final stage, with the existence of experiments/trials, additional findings were added to strengthen the fact that the liquid organic fertilizer "CARAJA" can be managed into a product that has a selling value and shows a significant influence in increasing the growth of mustard greens (Brassica Juncea) and optimizing the management of local potential in the village.

Abstract

The island region, especially in urban areas, has geographical characteristics with limited land that is an obstacle to increasing food security and the community's economy. This condition requires a creative solution, namely the application of urban farming through hydroponic techniques to maximize the use of available resources. This service aims to develop urban agriculture through hydroponics to increase food security and the household economy in Jerambah Gantung Village, Pangkalpinang City. The methods used in this service are socialization, training, and mentoring for the Kenanga Women's Farmers Group (KWT), which consists of 12 women who are expected to be pioneers in the application of urban farming in Pangkapinang City. They are given knowledge and trained in urban farming practices, especially hydroponic techniques. The results of this service are an increase in the knowledge of KWT Kenanga members, as shown by an increase in the average pre-test and post-test results with an initial score of 70 to 95. Then, a skill increase was reflected in the harvest quantity, which increased by 37 percent, or originally 35 kg in the first harvest, to 48 kg in the second harvest. There is also an increase in community involvement and agricultural culture, which is marked by an increase in the implementation of independent hydroponics. Thus, this service not only provides direct benefits for KWT Kenanga members but is also expected to contribute to the development of broader urban farming in Pangkalpinang City.

Abstract

Although SMAN 1 Mengwi is recognized as one of the top high schools in Badung Regency, challenges persist in the development of Learning Outcomes (CP), Learning Objectives (TP), Learning Objectives Flow (ATP), and the integration of the Merdeka Belajar Digital Module with local wisdom. A community service program addressed these gaps and enhanced teachers' knowledge and skills in these critical areas. 38 teachers from SMAN 1 Mengwi participated in this socialization and training initiative, which adopted a structured approach encompassing initial observation, program design, implementation, and evaluation, guided by the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) method. The program revealed that while teachers possessed foundational knowledge of module structures and were aware of local wisdom within their subject areas, they encountered difficulties applying this understanding to preparing CP, TP, and ATP components. Pre-test and post-test assessments significantly improved teachers' comprehension and capability to prepare CP, TP, ATP, and integrate local wisdom into digital modules. Notably, teachers' understanding level regarding CP, TP, and ATP reached 87.41%, while the overall success rate of the socialization and training program participation achieved 100%. These outcomes underscore the program's effectiveness in significantly enhancing teacher competence, ultimately contributing to the advancement of educational practices at SMAN 1 Mengwi and reinforcing the integration of local genius within the framework of modern pedagogy.

Abstract

Climate change is an environmental issue that is getting more and more attention in science and daily life. One of the contributing factors to climate change is waste management, which is not environmentally friendly. In RT 01 Eka Jaya Village, Jambi City, there is still a habit of people throwing and burning garbage carelessly, which causes greenhouse gas emissions such as CO₂, N₂O, NOₓ, NH₃, and other organic carbon compounds. To overcome this problem, the service team from the Environmental Engineering Study Program, University of Jambi, carried out socialization, training, and the provision of facilities to support the sustainable management and processing of household waste. The activity showed a significant increase in community knowledge and behavior towards waste management, as evidenced by the questionnaire results, namely that 99% of residents understood the correct waste management methods. In addition, the community also gained skills in processing glass waste into paving block products, which has the potential to become a business idea and improve the local economy. This activity shows that an educational and participatory approach can effectively change people's behavior towards better and sustainable waste management.
