Abstract

Cow biogas waste can be used as guava organic fertilizer. The objective of this research was to determine the composition of the planting media from biogas waste for the best guava seedling. This research was conducted in Ungaran Barat, Semarang, Central Java from July-December 2015. The method used was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) one factor that is the ratio of media compositions of 5 treatments, 4 replications and 10 plants per treatment (200 polybag seedlings of citrus plants). The treatments tested were biagas waste at 0%, 11%, 20%, 27% and 33%. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of fruits. The results showed that the higher the use of biogas waste as guava seedling media, the better the plant performance. The best media composition of biogas waste for guava seedling is 33% biogas waste organic fertilizer.

Abstract

Botanical pesticides produced from tobacco plants are reported to be the most toxic compared to other types of plants because it contain 2-8% nicotine substances. The objective of this research was to examine the effect of tobacco dust waste extracts and determine the concentration of the most effective tobacco dust waste extract against armyworms. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Pest and Plant Disease and C Green House Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta from April-July 2018. The stages of this study include the multiplication of S. litura test larvae, preparation of botanical insecticides from tobacco dust waste, mortality test, antifeedant test and phytotoxicity test. This study used a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The results showed that tobacco dust waste was able to increase the mortality of S. litura larvae, but with a slower effect compared to the treatment of profenofos. Feeding barriers are not seen in the test larvae. The phytotoxicity test shows that tobacco dust waste was not toxic to plants. Based on probit analysis, the concentration of tobacco dust waste which was capable of killing 50% of the population of S. litura was equal to 53.10 gL-1.

Abstract

Bagging banana fruits can be develop as a control to protect the fruits from Nacoleia octasema. The objective of this research was to determine the effect and relation of the banana fruit bagging time on N. octasema. This research was conducted in Tlogo Orchard, Delik Village, Tuntang District, Salatiga, Central Java from September-November 2018. This research used purposive sampling with 3 banana cultivars and 4 treatment. The observation variable of this research was the incidence of attacks. The results showed that there was an effect on the banana fruit bagging time against the incidence of pest attacks. The average incidence attack showed that the unbagged banana fruits had the biggest attacks. In addition, there was a positive relationship between the banana fruit bagging time and cultivars on the incidence of attacks. The older a banana bagged, the greater incidence of pest attacks. Kepok had the biggest incidence of attacks compared to the other cultivars.

Abstract

Maintaining soil quality can be done by cultivating soybean using the conservation soil tillage principle, which can be applied in no tillage soil system. The purpose of this study was to obtain the influence of the type of leaf fertilizer and the frequency of leaf fertilizer application on the growth and yield of soybeans in the without tillage system. This research was conducted in Kedawung, Sragen Central Java on May-August 2018. The research used randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 7 levels and 4 replications. Foliar fertilizer was given every 10 and 15 days. The observed variables were periodic observations, maximum vegetative, and yield. Maximum vegetative and periodic observations showed that P3 (gandasil D fertilizer every 15 days) has significant effect and resulted the highest yield. The results of the study showed that gandasil D fertilizer every 15 days treatment increased leaf area index. Gandasil b every 15 days treatment increased the yield of 100 seeds, but reduce the quantity of seed weight/plot, and foliar fertilizer is not effectively used in this cultivation.

Abstract

Nowadays urban and rural communities have an interest in choosing a place to live or a comfortable and fresh environment. The purpose of this research was to study the type of planting media other than soil that can support flowering of petunia plants. The research was conducted in Salaran experimental field, Satya Wacana Christian University, Wates Village, Getasan District, Semarang Regency from August-October 2018. The research used Randomized Block Design with 6 treatment and 4 replications. Media types were: P1 (rockwool), P2 (raw husk), P3 (charcoal husk), P4 (bricks), P5 (cocopeat) and P6 (zeolite). Parameters considered include plants, number of leaves, number of productive branches, stem diameter and number of flowers. Data were analyzed using Variant Analysis (ANOVA) followed by Honestly Significant Difference Test with 95% confidence interval adn correlation test. This research showed that zeolite growing media was able to support flowering of petunia plants with the highest average number of flowers (6.17) followed by brick planting media (5.38). Productivity of petunia per plant is closely related to plant height, number of leaves, productive branches, but not closely related to stem diameter.
