Abstract

Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ternak adalah dengan melakukan perbaikan nutrisi serta lingkungan ternak. Kondisi kekurangan pakan dan produksi limbah ternak yang besar merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang dihadapi. Perguruan tinggi sebagai salah wadah yang bertanggungjawab dalam memberikan solusi merasa perlu melakukan upaya sosialisasi dan transfer teknologi khususnya terkait dengan permasalahan pakan. Tujuan dari review jurnal ini yaitu untuk mengkaji adanya penerapan teknologi dalam pengolahan pakan sebagai persediaan pakan dalam usaha feedlot. Pengolahan pakan perlu adanya sentuhan teknologi untuk dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas pakan, palatabilitas, efisiensi dalam bekerja, menekan harga biaya pakan yang dikeluarkan, serta dapat memperpanjang masa simpan sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai persediaan pakan yang berkelanjutan. Teknologi pengolahan pakan sebagai persediaan pakan usaha feedlot dalam review jurnal ini terdapat menerapkan teknologi dengan complete feed, amfoter (amoniasi fermentasi), jerami amoniasi, dan silase pada hijauan pakan ternak.

Abstract

Review was carried out on fertility or reproductive performances of Ethiopian locals’ cattle and their Friesian and Jersey crosses. The objectives were to review research results on age of puberty, age at first calving, days open, postpartum anestrus interval, Service period, Number of Services per Conception and calving interval. The available review result showed that F1 Jersey and Friesian crosses had 7.65 and 5.89months shorter AFC than their F2 counterparts, respectively. Likewise, these crosses also had 12.63 and 11.35-months shorter AFC than that of local cows, respectively. Crossbred cows having 75% Friesian inheritance had comparable age at first calving with that of F1 Friesian and Jersey crosses. F1 Friesian crosseswere observed to have 37.67 and 33.96 days shorter calving interval as compared to crosses with 75% Frisian inheritances and F2 Friesian crosses, respectively. F1 Friesian and Jersey crosseshad 33.96 and 54.91 days shorter calving interval than their F2 counterparts, respectively. Crossbred cows having 75% Jersey had better reproductive performances than that of other crosses in reproductive traits considered except in age at first calving. Therefore, if the reproductive performance of local cows is to be improved, cows must be genetically upgraded to the level 50% exotic inheritances (Friesian/Jersey). Upgrading local cattle up to 75% exotic inheritance could also be done for better reproductive efficiency provided that the level of management is good enough to meet the relatively higher managerial demand of these animals. F1 crossbred dairy cattle is suitable to be used as dairy cattle under small holder management conditions and crossbred having 75% exotic blood level for urban and peri-urban dairy producers.

Abstract

Broiler chicken (Gallus sp.) is non ruminant animal being domesticated for the purpose being harvested for its meat. Broiler chicken is generally used as commodity of poultry farm because producing meat that can be harvested in short time in range of 30 (thirty) days. This research purpose is to understand about bacterial potency that used as ammonia reducing agent in manure waste that can be applicated in poultry farm for broiler chicken. The method used in this research is literature study in related theme with research object. The bacteria used in this research is Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Lactobacillus sp. and Bacillus sp. The usage of bacteria is as probiotic agent that can be applied in excrete waste in broiler chicken in poultry farm of broiler chicken. The result expected is that bacteria agent can effectively reducing ammonia concentration in excrete of broiler chicken. The conclusion of this research is that bacteria agent can reduce the amount of ammonia concentration in excrete waste of poultry farm for broiler chicken (Gallus sp.).

Abstract

Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan dan konsentrasi penambahan gula terhadap sifat fisik dan organoleptik es krim. Bahan yang digunakan adalah susu segar, gula pasir, gula jawa dan bahan pembentuk es krim lainnya. Perlakuan yang diuji dalam penelitian ini ada 5 yaitu P0 (100 % gula pasir), P1 (gula pasir 75 % + gula jawa 25 %), P2 (gula pasir 50 % + gula jawa 50 %), P3 (gula pasir 25 % + gula jawa 75 %) dan P4 (100 % gula jawa). Percobaan ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan dinilai oleh 20 orang panelis untuk menentukan sifat organoleptik dari produk es krim. Pengukuran sifat fisik terdiri dari ovverun dan daya leleh. Pengukuran data organoleptik meliputi variabel warna, tekstur, rasa, aroma dan kesukaan. Untuk menentukan perbedaan perlakuan dilakukan dengan uji DMRT. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh nyata (P0,05) terhadap warna, aroma, rasa, tekstur dan kesukaan es krim. Sedangkan untuk ovverun dan daya leleh tidak terdapat perbedaan nyata (P0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan persentase gula jawa gula jawa pada es krim dapat meningkatkan karakteristik warna, rasa, aroma, tekstur dan kesukaan. Penambahan 100 % gula jawa dalam pembuatan es krim akan menghasilkan kualitas es krim terbaik.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak bunga cengkeh pada teat dipping dan lama waktu simpan terhadap kadar lemak, solid non fat (SNF), dan kerusakan susu. Pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak bunga cengkeh dan lama waktu simpan susu segar hasil dipping terhadap kadar lemak, SNF, dan kerusakan susu. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam (two-way ANOVA). Data kerusakan susu dianalisis secara deskriptif.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa susu segar hasil dipping ektrak bunga cengkeh dengan konsentrasi berbeda tidak berbeda nyata (P0,05) terhadap kadar lemak, SNF, dan kerusakan susu. Lama waktu simpan susu segar juga tidak berbeda nyata (P0,05) terhadap kadar lemak, SNF, dan kerusakan susu.
