JEEMECS is an Open-Access journal who managed by Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Merdeka Malang, Indonesia. The technologies are rapidly changing and updating. Thus rapid distribution and publication to researchers, engineers, and educators are very important. Our aim after receiving the manuscript and editing process required is to quickly publish the received letters. Publishing periodically 2 (two) times a year. More several other changes in JEEMECS are informed in the journal history.

Abstract

The transition to renewable energy is a global effort to combat climate change and provide sustainable energy. One of the technologies that is developing is the use of solar power plants (SPP), which are capable of providing clean and environmentally friendly energy. This study aims to analyse the performance of the PLTS system in operating two types of electric motors, namely DC (Direct Current) motors and AC (Alternating Current) motors, with the assistance of an inverter. The experiment was conducted using an off-grid PV system with batteries and a solar charge controller (SCC). Measurements were taken of the voltage, current, and power of each system. The results showed that the AC motor produced greater power (86.3 W) after passing through the inverter compared to the DC motor, which only produced 18.4 W. This study provides insights into selecting the appropriate motor type for solar power systems to ensure efficiency and support SDG 7 targets.

Abstract

The implementation of BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motors is very broad, both for the industrial world and for everyday household needs. This is because BLDC motor does not require brushes in its operation so it is more durable. This motor requires precise control to work optimally. This study aims to obtain conventional control so that it can be used properly. Based on the research, the BLDC motor could be modeled well in Matlab and has been tested through simulations. The test results showed that the developed model was able to represent the basic characteristics of the BLDC motor well and in accordance with theory. This modeling could be used as a reference in performance analysis and further development of BLDC motor control systems. PID control values were obtained by increasing and decreasing control values. Based on the test, the parameter values of Kp = 0.01 and Ki = 20 had successfully controlled the BLDC motor well. The system was able to respond to commands stably, steady-state errors could be minimized, and the motor speed could follow the desired reference value. This indicated that the control parameter settings used were effective enough to achieve BLDC motor control performance.
